    Job Summary :


    To support the practice of nursing and the delivery of nursing care through use of a combination of communication modes, traffic control and clerical functions.

    Initiates patient record, requisitions, referrals, and other communication forms to facilitate planning, provision, and documentation of patient care.

    Essential Responsibilities:
    Fiscal Responsibility


    • Efficiently use supplies and equipment, respond rapidly, and fill out appropriate work orders in support of unit goals to eliminate waste
    • Process unit appropriate patient charges with accuracy and timeliness and updates billing information
    • Complete assignments and duties in a timely manner
    • Leave shift on time and utilize time keeping system
    • Demonstrate productivity and accepts EDO and float assignments
    Quality


    • Document verbal/telephone orders (non-medication) with date, time, order, Physician and physician representative name, when applicable, and own name and title
    • Verify accurate order entry or clarify all ambiguous unclear, unreadable or contradictory orders and appropriately document per unit specific standards
    • Possess ability to problem solve and to multitask within their scope of practice
    • Support processes looking at the patient experience and patient wait times
    • Delegate tasks appropriately and promote teamwork
    • Remain up to date with policy changes, collaborative practice plans, and standards of care
    Patient Satisfaction


    • Promote patient satisfaction as exemplified by patient recognition, letters from patients and families, or SEA (Service Excellence Award)
    • Timely response to patient needs
    • Practice professional use of personal electronic devices in patient care areas
    • Maintain professional environment and keep noise to a minimum at all times
    • Exemplify excellent guests relations to patients, visitors, and physicians and co-workers
    Patient Safety


    • Notifies RN immediately of NOW and STAT orders and scheduled admission/transfers
    • Engage in patient care activities when needed
    • Obtain and update correct demographic, medical order, and consult information
    • Utilize the event management system for each unusual occurrence
    • Adjust care routines to meet the individual patient needs
    • Adhere to HIPAA and follow social media policy

    • Share knowledge and skills with colleagues and others including orientation and cross-training
    • Demonstrate leadership and be a resource for peers, be an active council member, be a super user, serve as a preceptor
