    Job Overview: A law firm seeks a skilled and experienced Data Security and Privacy (DSSP) Product Counseling Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will primarily focus on privacy program management work and product counseling, requiring in-depth knowledge of U.S. and global privacy laws.

    • Conduct legal assessments to evaluate and manage privacy risks associated with client products and services.
    • Design and implement work plans to ensure clients' compliance with a diverse range of privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act/California Privacy Rights Act, Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, Colorado Privacy Act, and EU General Data Protection Regulation.
    • Provide expertise in assessing legal exposure and developing strategies for clients to meet evolving privacy requirements.
    • Conducting risk assessments, and collaborating with clients to document data flows and related compliance requirements.
    • Develop and lead training programs for junior associates to enhance their understanding of privacy laws and best practices.
    • Utilize 7-10 years of legal experience, with a preference for in-house experience as a full-time employee or secondee.
    • Hold active admission to the California Bar.
    • Demonstrate a deep familiarity with key U.S. and global privacy laws, staying abreast of updates and changes in regulations.
    • Prioritize experience within the telecommunications industry.
    • Possess a CIPP/US certification, demonstrating advanced knowledge of U.S. privacy laws (preferred).

    Requirements:

    • 7-10 years of legal experience, preferably with in-house experience.
    • Admission to the California Bar.
    • In-depth knowledge of U.S. and global privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act/California Privacy Rights Act, Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act, Colorado Privacy Act, and EU General Data Protection Regulation.
    • Proven experience assessing legal exposure and designing compliance strategies for diverse privacy laws.
    • Strong experience in conducting processing risk assessments and documenting data flows.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead training programs for junior associates.
    • Preferred experience within the telecommunications industry.
    • Preferred CIPP/US certification.

    Education:

    • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

    Certifications:

    • Admission to the California Bar.
    • Preferred: Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) certification.
