    • Location: Palmdale, Van Nuys
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's degree and 4 years of experience working with children with social, emotional, and/or behavioral special needs Up to two years of graduate professional education may be substituted for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basis; up to two years of post-associate arts clinical experience may be substituted for the required educational experience, in addition to the requirement of four years of experience.
    • Prefer minimum of one year experience specific to working with Preschool aged children.
    • Valid California driver's license with a good driving record, with a minimum of three years' driving experience.
    JOB SUMMARY
    This role supports the Day Treatment program by completing required documentation, assisting with therapeutic groups, and helping implement individualized behavior and treatment plans for young children. The position includes supervising and ensuring the safety of clients, providing crisis and behavioral support, coordinating daily activities, and transporting or monitoring children as needed. The staff member also collaborates with the treatment team, participates in training and parent programs, and performs hands-on care to support children's developmental and emotional needs.
    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Primary responsibility for completing and submitting required Day Treatment paperwork in a proper and timely manner (which includes daily behavior notes, incident reports, weekly notes and/or other programmatic documentation).
    • In the absence of the Milieu Group Therapist, may assume leadership of the milieu program and activities.
    • Participate in treatment team meetings to assist in the development of individualized goals and case planning for clients. Participate in assigned program trainings to stay abreast of best practices in preschool mental health, attend agency meetings, and case conferences as assigned.
    • Transport children in Agency van to and/or from the program and/or serve as bus/van monitor, on an as needed basis.
    • Provide support to Milieu Group Therapist in planning and conducting daily activities and therapeutic groups.
    • Lead assigned Social Emotional Learning Center and plan curriculum for this group under the supervision of clinical staff to compliment clinical themes in the milieu. Lead other groups as appropriate.
    • Provide administrative support in the milieu (which may include, ensuring completion of sign-in/out sheets, daily attendance forms, preparing daily notes, phoning parents/caregivers to notify them of special announcements, etc.).
    • Provide supervision and monitoring of children participating in the Day Treatment program including protecting, caring and ensuring the safety of all clients at all time.
    • Provide crisis intervention and behavioral support. Implement behavior management strategies for clients, including setting and enforcing limits for behavior.
    • Implement group and individual behavior plans. Provide positive reinforcement and assist with behavior control throughout the day.
    • Assist clients in developing social, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
    • Provide direct assistance with personal hygiene and activities of daily living including (diapering, for pre-school program), toileting, food preparation, eating, etc.
    • Report any suspected or reported child abuse immediately to Program Director and treating therapist.
    • Attend and participate in monthly, evening parent trainings, meetings, and/or family programs. Provide childcare as assigned to facilitate parent participation in groups and trainings.
    • Conduct all functions in accordance with Agency guidelines, policies and procedures and ethical standards.
    • Arrange work schedule or required hours to the benefit of the program, with the approval of the Coordinator/Director.
    • Work effectively as a member of the day treatment team. Effectively may be defined as properly implementing the duties as described in this document and practicing a positive and supportive rapport with other staff. A relationship of trust between co-workers regarding communication, competency of skills, and positive collaboration is essential, specifically with client behaviors and within the milieu in general.

Salaries will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to, professional and academic experience, certification, training, responsibilities of the position, and other business and organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees. Salary decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each hire.
