MRI Assistant

Fulltime Day position with rotation

Purpose:
Under the direction of radiologist and MRI supervisor, screens and clears patients for MRI procedures. Assumes responsibility for other related duties.

Responsibilities:

Confirms patients' appointments for the following day.
Assists technologist with patient as needed.
Obtains all previously completed scans/films needed for comparison with scheduled exam.
Updates exam date in hospital computer system following completion of exam.
Use of the Radiology Information System and Sorian Scheduling System.
Places follow-up phone calls to other medical facilities, doctors' offices, etc. as required to obtain previous films, surgical records, and all other pertinent information.
Conducts phone interviews with patients to obtain in-depth background in order to schedule for MRI scans.
Assures all necessary paperwork is received prior to patient's arrival in the Department.
Fills emergency appointment slots as needed.
Directs patients to dressing room, informing them what articles of clothing must be removed, providing them with a hospital gown and informing them what to do with their clothing and valuables.
Notifies Admission Office of add-on appointments not included on the schedule.
Complies with established occupational BBF and TB exposure policies.

Qualifications:

Education and Formal Training Required:

High School graduate or GED.
Successful completion of medical terminology and anatomy courses preferred.
Keyboard familiarity. Ability to effectively communicate with people.

Experience Preferred:

One year experience in a hospital or medical setting.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
