- Designing structural components of bridges, box culverts, retaining walls and related structures
- Developing details of bridge components for contract drawings
- Calculating quantities and developing construction cost estimates
- Reviewing shop drawings
- Assisting on bridge inspections
- Writing Bridge Inspection Reports
- Performing Load Ratings
- Participating in project meetings and writing minutes of such meetings
- Designing and/or inspecting other types of structures such as light standards, sign supports, etc.
- Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering.
- 0 to 4 years of relevant design experience
- EIT required
- Must be knowledgeable and proficient in basic computer programs such as Microsoft Office.
- The ability to learn computer programs such as Merlin Dash, Conspan, DESCUS, RC Pier, STAAD, L-Pile, etc.
- The ability to learn various codes such as AASHTO, ACI, AISC, etc.
- Must have a valid drivers license
- Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
- Knowledge of Microstation a plus
- Both office and field work
- Field work involves bridge inspection which occasionally consist of working at heights, climbing, and working in confined space.
- Field work may be required during any season
- Must be able to lift ladder, assist in moving boat, and perform other light physical activity
- Travel with overnight stay may be required occasionally.
- Occasional response to emergency situations at any time or day may be expected
