Description:

The Regional Medical Director – AWH reports directly to the System Senior Physician Executive of Tertiary Care and dotted line to the SVP, President of the Central Region.

The incumbent also has a dyad with the Hospital Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Operations.

This role will have the primary responsibility of helping develop and operationalize the Aspirus Medical Group in the tertiary care setting.

By assisting in the design and implementation of the care delivery model, within the individual's areas of accountability, this physician leader will leverage the core values of Aspirus in order to achieve success.

The incumbent will develop credible relationships of trust with the independent and employed physicians as well as advance practice professionals (APCs).

This position will have overall leadership responsibility for the physicians and APCs within the area of accountability.

Experience/Qualifications:
MD, DO, or DPM Required
Completion of a Master's degree in related field preferred or relevant, applicable experience.
Completion of formal physician leadership training through Aspirus Health or a preferred national organization such as the American Association for Physician Leadership (AAPL)

A minimum of three years' experience in the practice of medicine (post-residency/ fellowship), direct patient care and demonstrated skills and experience in clinical and administrative leadership through activities including, but not limited to, advanced healthcare administration course work, service as a medical staff officer, or program medical director.

Board certification in a clinical specialty necessary.
Experience working in physician-led, integrated healthcare delivery organization a plus.
Experience and proven results in technology utilization to optimize patient care and provider efficiency.

Experience as successful influencer who can interact effectively with diverse groups of stakeholders such as other physicians, healthcare administration, and staff.

Must be licensed to practice in the State of Wisconsin or State of Michigan, based on clinical location.
Board certified in field of specialty required.
Meets all other bylaws and policy requirements pertaining to physicians.

Aspirus Wausau Hospital

is the flagship of the Aspirus system that serves patients in 14 counties across northern and central Wisconsin, as well as the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

It is a licensed private/not-for-profit facility with 325 beds and staffed by 350 physicians in 35 specialties.

Aspirus Wausau Hospital is a Level II trauma center that provides primary, secondary and tertiary care services as a regional referral center.

Specialty referral service emphasis exists in cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery, orthopedics and cancer. The hospital has an average daily inpatient census of 220 with approximately 15,000 admissions per year. Outpatient visits exceed 50,000 and there are also more than 24,000 annual emergency department visits.
