    Terms of Employment: Dates Monday-Thursday
    Dates M-T July 8, 9, 10,11, 15, 16, 17, 18, 22, 23, 24, 25, 29, 30, 31, Aug 1, (up to 16 days pending registrations with 1 week per student rotation starting July 8)
    Program Hours: 8:00-12:00 Teacher Hours 7:45-12:15 (1 hr planning weekly)

    Salary: Summer Rate Teachers: $36.77 (per hour)
    Summer Rate Paras: $23.41 (per hour - special education paraprofessional)

    The Program: Teachers will deliver personalized instruction around career exploration and readiness Monday through Thursday with Monday -Wednesday being in-person days, and Thursday being additional supports with Career Choice Presenters, Field Trips, skills day, or in-school activities in support of teaching and learning. Teachers, Paraprofessionals and Specialists will continue to collaborate and reinvent summer learning.

    This approach will use learning practices, hands-on, small group, rotations, career development, soft skills, scenarios, community based projects, TED Talks, alumni representation, etiquette and respect, 21st Century Learning Skills, WBL discussions, Pathway conversations, Major Clarity and Naviance purposes, Defined Careers, among other experiences and applications to deliver in a developmentally appropriate environment with group and individualized learning opportunities as determined by student needs by the team of professionals brought together to showcase what college and career readiness skills can do to support our students. A student exit survey will be used by staff at each week long rotation in order to improve overall student experiences and enhance their learning. Direct instruction and coordination of high yield instructional strategies is required to support student growth and overall achievement, as well as understanding of career exploration and goal setting. Incentive options and approaches will be used on alternating Thursdays with field trips or guest speakers as appropriate with school celebrations included. A team approach to the rotations and co-planning and/or co-teaching will be encouraged and supported along with the use of paraprofessionals to support students with disabilities and Multilingual Learners (MLL), formerly known as English Language Learners. Specialist support will be available for planning, implementation and assessment of the Senator Summer Boost learning.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Plans a program of study that meets the individual need, interests and abilities of the students through an in-person format supporting students
    • Prepares for classes or rotations assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor
    • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of in school instruction with career goal setting experiences and activities
    • Plan for students with special needs or MLL/ELL as appropriate to the student cohorts, support recruitment of the program into the spring
    • Teaching methods to support technology implementation and use of appropriate content practices with small group, soft skills, technology tool use and options
    • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and- in harmony with the goals- establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and communicates these objectives to students
    • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
    • Support recruitment of alumni presenters and business partners during the coordination of the planning sessions scheduled (at least two additional after school sessions will be coordinated by the coaching staff to develop an outline and a master list of alumni and businesses to partner with (invites will be sent and if after hours paid)
    • Follows rules and guidelines by the school and district
    • Reliable, punctual, and prepared to help facilitate the Career Exploration Camp experience based on student needs
    • Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's mission statement and student needs, based on growth measures
    • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides reports as required, as well as notifying parents of student progress and engagement when necessary
    • Successfully assists with facilitating an educational process that promotes participation, enthusiasm, positive group interactions, and academic success
    • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation
    • Other duties as assigned by designated supervisor or principal
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Current or eligible to hold Delaware certification in area to be taught or supported (CTE, Counseling, Paraprofessional as applicable) preferred, but not required
    • Experience working with middle school and high school students
    Standard Requirements:
    • Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check for the candidate who is offered employment
