Anduril is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the team at our Costa Mesa HQ.

Here you will work on core product development for drones and complex systems, including but not limited to optical gimbals, batteries, mechanisms, sensors and payloads.

WHAT YOU'LL DOExecute rapid evaluation of engineering concepts in a wide range of fieldsIdentify partners in industry to engage with, and manage early vendor relationshipsPerform trade studies and physics-based analysis of blue-sky engineering problemsManage internal and external market research and comparisonsDesign, implementation, and test of complex electro-mechanical systemsHigh level system ownership with large levels of professional autonomyLead design reviews, run analysis, visit vendors, define and execute hardware test plansBuild prototypes, analyze failures, and transition successful projects into productionSupport critical hardware demonstrations with customers as neededTravel to test sites as neededUse first principles physics as a basis for every decisionWear many hatsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience in an immersive technical project (collegiate project teams or professional settings)Demonstrated leadership skills (collegiate project teams or professional settings)1+ years of mechanical/design experience in a professional settingCAD skills (any platform) and ability to make high quality engineering drawings that meet industry standardsHigh competence with, and fluid use of, engineering first principlesStrong organizational skillsBS, MS or PhD in an engineering field, or equivalent work experienceMust be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.

TS clearancePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience in Solidworks or NX and PLM systemsAdvanced designing skills for:
Machining, composites, sheet metal, injection moldingHands-on prototyping (machining and shop tools, welding, soldering)

Outstanding leadership and interpersonal skillsFamiliarity with designing for rugged environmentsBasic firmware/software experience (Arduino or similar)Experience with Electro-Mechanical and Electrical design conceptsExperience in developing a variety of electronics hardware products (UAVs, wearables, firearms, high power electric propulsion, optical systems, or other complex mechanisms)US Salary Range$120,000—$180,000 USDThe salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.

Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
