    Join Our Team — Be a YMCA Sports Program Assistant

    Do you love sports, teamwork, and helping kids have a blast? The YMCA is looking for an energetic Sports Program Assistant to help run our youth and adult sports programs

    You'll help make sure practices and games run smoothly, support coaches, keep things organized, and make every player feel like a champion.

     What You'll Do

    • Assist in in coaching youth sports clinics, camps, and leagues, when needed, across a variety of sports (e.g., soccer, basketball, T-ball).
    • Help set up and take down equipment for practices and games.
    • Keep things running on time — from schedules to scorekeeping.
    • Cheer on players and help create a fun, positive environment.
    • Talk with parents, coaches, and participants (communication is key).
    • Make sure everyone is playing safe and having fun.
    • Pitch in wherever needed — teamwork makes the dream work

    Qualifications


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum Age: 16, to work with adult leagues
    • Previous experience in playing or coaching youth sports preferred
    • Strong communication skills with youth and adults is essential
    • Ability to relate and work effectively with children and diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
    • Completion of Child Abuse Prevention, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training before working with children
    • Availability for evenings and/or weekends

    • The employee frequently is required to sit and reach, and must be able to move around the work environment.
    • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. 
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
