    JOB SUMMARY:

    The Sr. Mechanical Engineer utilizes experience and engineering knowledge in the development of differing types of abatement equipment, HVAC systems, hooding and their application. In addition, this position will be instrumental in product & technology development for varies types of environmental fluid handling systems, providing knowledge and assistance to all other departments regarding fitness and application of current product offerings. This position oversees and manages all aspects of custom solutions including interactions with customers and project teams to ensure that the planning, scheduling, and coordination of resources are in alignment with budget and scope for a successful project.

    Must have engineering design experience in Industrial fume collection and ventilation systems including equipment such as hoods and enclosures, duct work, particulate capture, heating and cooling, VOC/HAP abatement.

    • Applies theory and principles of mechanical design to modify, test, develop centrifugal pumps, pump components, and systems.
    • Can drive custom designs of Industrial equipment and lead teams to achieve objectives with little supervision
    • Assists and confers with other cross functional departments, customers and suppliers for design concept interpretations.
    • Provides guidance and leadership within the engineering department.
    • Creates conceptual and detailed models and drawings for customer proposals and research and development projects.
    • Provides product and application expertise where required.
    • Reviews customer application documents ensuring technical requirements are documented properly and understood.
    • Conducts product failure analyses, determines root cause, prepares reports, and communicates with sales and the customer as needed.
    • Assists in the establishment and enforcement, as needed, of engineering procedures, standards, and best practices.
    • Generates required engineering calculations as per application and design requirements.
    • Dispositions returned products, parts, and materials as required by the returned good process and the material review board (MRB) process.
    • Establishes and maintains close working relationships with Sales, Operations, Quality, and other functions. Promotes and maintains flexible, cooperative, team oriented, and customer focused attitude within and between functions.
    • Participates in cross-functional teams to ensure continuous, ongoing improvement of processes, methods, and quality.
    • Maintains technical competency and remains current in technology and changes in the industries the organization serves.
    • Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
    • 8+ years of experience designing, testing, and applying rotating equipment.
    • Experience with heavy industrial ventilation
    • Experience with Thermal Oxidizers, Bag Houses, Scrubbers, Filtration Systems, and Mist Eliminators; preferred.
    • 8+ years of technical / field service experience working and communicating directly with customers.
    • Proficient in the use of Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D CAD software; required.
    • Experienced with AutoCAD; preferred.
    • Familiarity with FEA and CFD simulations.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving experience, including product failure analysis / root cause analysis.
    • Project management experience preferred.
    • Flexibility to work different schedules as needed to meet strict deadlines.
    • MS Office Suite; required.

    • Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications, or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods.
