    RN - OR Educator (FT) 8a-5p, Surgery - Kingsport, TN
    *HOLSTON VALLEY MEDICAL CENTER, Kingsport, TN
    *Full-time (scheduled 72 hrs or more per pay period)
    *The RN - OR Educator is responsible to plan, implement, educate, facilitate, and evaluate educational programs for Perioperative Services. This individual shall possess a thorough knowledge and educate staff on general nursing theory and practice, operating room standards and procedures, OR and Clinical Systems, principles and methods involved in the fields of orientation, evaluation, and supervision. The Educator will assist in providing guidance to nursing staff to assure that they practice within established standards, policies and procedures. The individual must be committed to providing superior levels of nursing care and maintaining high patient care standards. The Educator must be willing to serve as resource for staff, keep current of new developments in surgical nursing, and knowledgeable of all policies, procedures, and continuing quality improvement plans. The Educator will collaborate with the Director of Perioperative Services and the Clinical Standards Committee to review new and update current policies and procedures that affect Perioperative Services while using National Standards to guide those policies and procedures. This individual will demonstrate skill in developing and guide collaborative collegial practice that delivers safe competent care based on meticulous application of the nursing process. The position involves maintaining current knowledge of evidence based nursing practice and the ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills in the implementation of all phases of the nursing process. This individual will actively participate in patient care quality and performance improvement through data collection, aggregation and analysis of relevant key indicators of quality (KIQ's). This commitment to quality results in the development and implementation of action plans to include the monitoring of the effectiveness of improvements (Hold the Gains). The Educator demonstrates competency in the care of surgical patients.
    *EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
    • Associate's degree from an accredited Nursing program required, Bachelor's or Master's degree preferred. Minimum five years experience in Perioperative Nursing is required, greater than five years is preferred. Must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills including Word and Excel. Must be able to complete job related competencies as deemed necessary to the performance of the RN role in the department.
