    Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

    Location: Providence, RI

    Description: We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our school district in Providence, RI. The SLP will play a vital role in providing comprehensive speech and language services to students with communication disorders or delays, supporting their academic, social, and emotional development. This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with a dynamic team of educators and professionals in a diverse and inclusive school community.

    Responsibilities:

    • Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate students' speech and language skills, including articulation, fluency, voice, and receptive and expressive language abilities
    • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and intervention strategies to address students' communication goals and objectives, utilizing evidence-based practices and techniques
    • Provide direct therapy services to students in both individual and group settings, targeting areas of need such as articulation, phonology, language comprehension, pragmatic skills, and social communication
    • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other members of the educational team to integrate speech and language goals into students' academic curriculum and daily routines
    • Monitor students' progress and adjust intervention plans as needed, while maintaining accurate documentation of assessment results, therapy sessions, progress reports, and other relevant data
    • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, and other collaborative processes to develop and implement appropriate supports and accommodations for students with communication needs
    • Stay informed about current research, best practices, and trends in the field of speech-language pathology, and participate in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills

    Educational Requirements:

    • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program

    Certifications:

    • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
    • Rhode Island state licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working as an SLP in a school setting or with pediatric populations
    • Knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
    • Commitment to cultural competence and providing equitable services to students from diverse backgrounds
