    Responsibilities

    Provide behavioral health counseling services.

    • Conduct patient assessments and establish therapy treatment goals.
    • Administer individual and group therapy. Maintain thorough and confidential records of observations.
    • Evaluate progress and effectiveness of therapy interventions.
    • Provide patient with information regarding resources and therapeutic activities in the community.
    • Work directly with the patient, family, physician and community providers to ensure active and collaborate care from the initiation of treatment to the time of discharge.
    • Provide assessment, social services and counseling to patients, their families and staff in relation to social, psychological, financial and family situations including discharge planning. Provide individual, group and family psychotherapy. Document therapies and treatment. Assist with direct
      patient care as needed.
    • Initiate and conduct educational programs for staff as needed. Market and provide community education on therapeutic services. Develop and maintain good working relationships with outside community health and social agencies and reaches out to the community to develop new resources for
      meeting patient needs. Conduct training programs with outside organizations regarding health and wellness.
    • Function as lead therapist regarding trauma and personality disorders, providing clinical consultation to staff and psychiatrist. Provide clinical consultation to hospital staff about mental health issues for various patient populations, including children and families. Interpret and communicate necessary
      information regarding patients and families including social history information to staff and physicians.
    • Coordinate planning, make recommendations and facilitate decision-making concerning individual patient care plans especially regarding the home situation. Plan treatments and review physician cases. Interact with insurance companies regarding mental health claims and provides insurance and billing consultation, support, and education to other staff as needed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    Licensure / Certification / Registration:

    • One or more of the following required:
      • Counselor credentialed from the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
      • Social Worker credentialed from the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
    • Clinical Counselor preferred.

    Education:

    • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's
      degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

    Additional Preferences

    • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy experience preferred.
    • DUAL (Substance Use related Disorders and General Mental Health) experience preferred.
    • Bilingual- Spanish speaking preferred.
    • At least 3 plus months in social services setting with IOP experience required.
    • Working knowledge of general mental health disorders and interventions required.
    • Relevant knowledge of mental health services and resources in the Greater Austin area required.
    • Clinical skills utilized telephonically preferred.
