The Adler Planetarium is seeking a Part-time Exhibit Operations Specialist I to join our dynamic team on Chicago's Museum Campus. This position will be responsible for opening and closing exhibits, performing routine cleaning and maintenance, and ensuring that all guest-facing areas are always guest-ready.This role requires practical fabrication and maintenance experience, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, sound judgment when responding to operational or safety concerns in a public-facing museum environment,
High School Diploma or GED required Minimum of two years of relevant work experience General fabrication and construction skills including familiarity with carpentry shop tools standard hand tools Experience with basic digital electrical wiring repairs carpentry painting Ability to lift carry push pull loads of 50+ pounds Comfort working at elevated heights in tight or awkward spaces Basic computer skills including web searching use of office software strong aptitude for learning new technologies Experience using radio communication systems Ability to learn retain apply new skills with a strong desire to improve existing knowledge Effective time-management skills with the ability to complete assignments accurately on schedule Commitment to performing routine duties with consistency high quality attention detail Reliable attendance dependable job performance Understanding team success depends daily participation accountability Willingness receive constructive feedback coaching Strong interpersonal teamwork skills able work independently minimal supervision as appropriate Clear oral written communication skills Ability make decisions impact staff guest experience taking action shut down exhibit spaces components safety operational concerns arise Sound judgment determining issues require escalation immediate response
