    Description


    Urban Homeworks (UHW) transforms condemned, underutilized, and neglected properties into safe, dignified rental or homeownership opportunities for low- to moderate-income-primarily BIPOC-households.

    Using housing as a platform to combat racial wealth gaps and create broader social change, UHW works to build community between neighbors, businesses, and contractors in South and North Minneapolis and the Frogtown Neighborhoods in St.

    Paul.

    By addressing the issues residents face inside and outside the home with a community-centered approach, UHW helps neighbors build the stable foundation needed to further overcome the barriers that perpetuate inequity and make their dreams a reality.


    UHW is currently seeking a Finance and Operations Director who will be responsible for ensuring smooth implementation of the agency's business management, overseeing agency operations, including finance, facilities, IT, and administration.

    The Finance and Operations Director will supervise outside contract support, write budgets and reports, and communicate with vendors.

    Working closely with the Executive Director and in partnership with the entire staff, the Finance and Operations Director ensures the smooth operation of the agency's key day-to-day functions, and the financial wellness of the agency.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Management of General Business Operations


    Serve as a business partner to the Executive Director on the agency's financial, budgeting, administrative, and HR processes, with an eye to continuously developing and improving systems.

    Oversee and manage facility and IT needs and planning.
    Serve as a partner to the Executive Director and leadership team related to agency and program goals and outcomes.

    Represent Executive Director on an as needed basis with communication that upholds the values of the agency - timely, direct, and anti-racist in practice.

    Manage the agency's physical infrastructure, physical location, and system maintenance.

    Strategic Planning and Implementation

    Provide leadership in development of agency's strategic planning process.
    Collaborate with the Executive Director and leadership team and provide insight into the strategic plan and related program plans.
    Work together with the Executive Director to develop and refine budgets.

    Collaborate with Executive Director in managing agency finances and nonprofit administration, as needed to ensure good governance and financial accountability.

    Financial Oversight

    Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow for administration, existing programs, and proposed new sites.
    Work in partnership with the Executive Director to determine short and long-term financial goals and crucial decisions.
    Lead communication with key stakeholders around key financial decisions in a timely manner.
    Ensure best practices in financial management including appropriate financial controls.
    Responsible for management of the annual financial audit and Form 990.

    Provide oversight consistent with the investment policy established by the Board in stewardship of financial assets held with banks and financial institutions.

    Monitor, coordinate and report on collections of receivables.
    Staff the Finance and Audit committees of the Board.
    Work in partnership with the Treasurer to plan Finance Committee agendas.
    Develop and implement tools to analyze business practices and financial forecasting.
    Prepare financial reports for funders such as granting institutions, governments, etc.

    Establish major economic objectives and policies for the company and prepares reports that outline the company's financial position in the areas of income, expense and earnings based on past, present, and future operations.

    Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of the agency.
    Work with department leaders and staff to develop sound business plans for the agency.
    Establish and implements short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
    Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts.

    Work in partnership with the Real Estate Director to ensure appropriate financial asset management plans and funding strategies for agency properties.

    Create and maintain appropriate property-level financial reporting.


    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education and Experience:
    Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or demonstrably equivalent knowledge gained through alternative courses of study and life experience.
    Minimum of 3 years of work experience in operations: HR, Finance, IT and Office.
    Knowledge of the human services sector required; experience working in a nonprofit setting preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
    Knowledge and experience working with culturally and racially diverse populations.
    Action-oriented with strong project management skills.
    Solid business acumen skills.
    Excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to build and maintain solid professional relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders.
    Ability to grasp the full meaning of key performance indicators and make any needed changes.
    Skilled in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, leaders, community partners, and the public.
    Excellent management and staff leadership skills.

    Strong understanding of the Board's leadership role related to the strategic direction and the Finance and Operations Director's role to develop the strategic operation plan.

    High proficiency with MS Office Suite.


    Licenses and/or Certifications:
