    The Rental Billing department is responsible for the maintenance and management of the billing and invoicing software that impactscustomers who rent cars or trucks globally from Enterprise Mobility. This includes maintaining and managing interfaces with internal applications and delivering electronic data to external organizations and customers.     As aSystems Engineer (Engineer 1, Systems)inthe Rental BillingArea, you will have the opportunity to support the technical infrastructure as a member of the Rental Billing Solution Support candidate can anticipate working with variousinternalsoftware products including RFS, BDS, FRB, and COMPS. These products support our rental accounting, invoicing, partner processing, and commission calculations, for Enterprise Mobility andall global customers.There will be no shortage ofopportunityto developrelationshipswith contributors from the development teams as well ascustomers and sponsors of our products.

    You will be responsible for providing support for the hardware and software infrastructure in Rental Billing. This will include coordinating and executing plans for upgrades and patching on the server operating systems and middleware components, reviewing and addressing security vulnerabilities within the platform that pertain to the server and its underlying components, and monitoring and maintaining the general health of the backend systems. In addition, you will take on coordination efforts around our monthly and off-cycle release process. There will be exciting opportunities to innovate and improve our technical processes such as migrations to cloud services, containerization of our applications, and implementing no outage deployments. Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to continually look for areas where we can improve are crucial to success in this role. The engineer must be able to communicate clearly and work well with members of our department as well as many of the other platform and infrastructure teams in EM. They must be adaptable and comfortable working in multiple operating system environments and on resolving issues we have not previously faced. This role is the Swiss Army knife of Rental Billing. You will have a hand in most efforts outside of the development of our application code. You must enjoy learning new things and tackling areas where you, and often the department, have little previous experience.

    Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate and implement regular patching for platform systems including AIX, Linux, Windows, Oracle, Weblogic and Tomcat.
    • Participate in large scale upgrade efforts such as operating system and hardware upgrades.
    • Help to plan and implement new technologies to our infrastructure such as migrating our applications to the cloud.
    • Review and address security vulnerabilities at the server and backend level.
    • Support our backend processes such as our build and deployment system and code repository.
    • Monitor and address issues within the general health of the system including CPU, Memory, I/O and space management.
    • Frequently work with other platform and infrastructure teams in the company including Unix, Linux, Windows, Performance Management and Dev Tools.
    • Manage recurring processes such as password maintenance on systems IDs and updating our security certificates.
    • Be able to assist with implementing automation tasks within Solution Support and throughout the department.
