    Description
    As a Porter at the Chicago Theater you will promote positive guest/client experiences during the beginning (ingress), middle of event and show departure (egress). A Porter's role is responsible for continuously keeping the theatre clean before, throughout, and the end of an event.

    As a crucial member of our team, a Chicago Porter may be requested to work a flexible schedule inclusive of early mornings, day & evening shifts (late evenings may be required), weekends, holidays and back to back events. All candidates must be available to work 50% of the monthly show schedule. Additionally, a Porter may be assigned to an area with adverse temperature/weather conditions such as cleaning the exterior areas of the building.
    • Cleaning and maintaining the interior and exterior of the Chicago Theatre (i.e. all theatre levels, lobby, dressing rooms, restrooms, etc).
    • Will sanitize and clean restroom facilities during and after shows (stock lavatories, wash walls, floors and disinfect restrooms).
    • Buff and wax floors to maintain overall cleanliness and appearance of theatre.
    • Sweep, mop, and remove trash from facility, offices and backstage areas.
    • Vacuum and spot clean all carpets in the theatre and remove trash left by guests.
    • Assist in special projects as assigned including specialty detail cleaning and sanitizing in all areas of the theatre.
    • Be prepared to take an active role in Emergency Operations procedures (evacuation plan) through on-going training and drills.
    • Assist other departments as needed.
    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB:
    • Must be receptive to working outside in inclement weather and extreme temperatures.
    • Able to walk and stand during the entire shift.
    • Lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 lbs.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, have split days off, work weekends and holidays in a 24 X 7 environment.
    • Current or prior maintenance/sanitary experience in a building, arena or outdoor environment.
    • Must be motivated, deadline orientated with the ability to work independently to meet show schedule and load in/load out process.
    • Strong communication and customer service skills.
    • Ability to work with large crowds.
    • Must be able to tolerate and work in a loud, fast paced environment.
    • Maintain a professional manner, presence, and appearance always while on premises/duty.
    • All candidates must be available to work 50% of the monthly show schedule (No guarantee of minimum hours).
    • Must be comfortable with heights (working on high floor) and navigating steep steps and inclines.
    • General computer and email proficiency are required.
