Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

    We are seeking a qualified and experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team at the US Embassy in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. As the Electrical Engineer, you will play a crucial role in providing engineering and construction quality assurance, technical oversight, and management for the Ashgabat NEC project. The successful candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with specific experience in high and low-voltage equipment, as well as telephone and fire alarm systems. Key responsibilities:
    • Support and assist OBO/Ashgabat in ensuring the completion of the project in accordance with contract requirements.
    • Ensure compliance by performing technical inspections of electrical work, monitoring the contractor's quality control program, and reviewing project drawings and specifications.
    • Conduct on-site construction observations to verify proper installation, forming, and execution of construction elements.
    • Ensure that the required contract work in accordance with design documents is performed.
    • Oversee and ensure adherence to the project schedule, submitting weekly progress reports with recommendations based on technical reviews and field inspections.
    • Review engineering shop drawings and determine if the contractor has complied with the final design parameters.
    • Review contractor submittals for compliance with contract requirements and resolve conflicts as needed.
    • Monitor the construction contractor's quality assurance and safety program.
    • Collaborate with other disciplines, interpreting drawings within the electrical discipline, and understanding how it fits with other engineering disciplines.
    • Perform quality assurance tasks, ensuring proper inspection of contractor's work, and initiating corrective actions when necessary.
    • Monitor construction progress vis-à-vis the project schedule.
    • Submit weekly progress reports with recommendations based on the technical review of project documents and field inspections.
    • Perform technical inspections of the electrical elements of the project.
    • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
    Qualifications to be successful in the role:
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
    • Clearance: Final Secret, Interim Top Secret, or Final Top Secret clearance issued by Defense Security Services at the time of proposal.
    • Previous experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on high and low voltage equipment, and telephone and fire alarm systems.
    • Ability to read and interpret design/construction drawings and understand design narratives and calculations.
    • Strong understanding of engineering principles within the electrical discipline and its integration with other disciplines.
    • Must have good communication and collaboration skills.
    • Must be willing to commit to a 48-month contract and 50 hours per week of work
    • Must lawfully reside in the United States and eligible for employment (Planate does not sponsor visas or work permits)
