    Be a part of the IHM Senior Living Community We are looking for Full Time and Part-Time experienced Medication Technicians (Med. Tech.) to work in our 5-star healthcare facility in Monroe, Michigan. We are taking resumes from candidates that share our values and mission in our skilled nursing facility.

    Full-Time/Part-Time schedules available include working every other weekend/holiday:
    • 6:00a.m. - 6:30 p.m. (24 hours per pay period)
    • 6:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m hours per pay period)

    Responsibilities:

    The Medication Technician role includes dispensing oral capsules, pills, elixirs and perhaps subcutaneous insulin to patients; assist them in taking the medication; and assess for any side effects or drug reactions. Understanding and to be familiar with the residents' recent vital signs and blood glucose levels, as well as the different contraindications - or restrictions to administration - of common medications. Administering prescribed medications to patients and maintain related medical records under immediate supervision. Verifying the identity of patient receiving medication and record name of drug, dosage, and time of administration on specified forms or records. Taking vital signs and/or observe patient to detect response to medication. Documenting when a PRN medication is given and why.If the PRN medication was not effective, document and what intervention was given.

    This role will include some shifts working as a Nursing Assistant (CENA) performing direct care. Such as recording vital signs, transporting, transferring, toileting, positioning, feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming residents, encouraging highest level of independence, and validating residents' concerns.

    Qualifications

    Education: Ability to successfully complete training for a Medication Technician. High school graduate/GED. CENA certification is preferred but not required.

    Experience: Previous experience as a Medication Technician is preferred, but not required.

    • Resident centered thinking, with awareness & sensitivity to resident needs, interests, & abilities
    • Ability to meet the physical demands of position, including lifting over 50 lbs. while transferring a resident.
    • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Working knowledge of personal computers and related software
    • Ability to work with little supervision and make appropriate judgments.
    • Dependability, with the ability to follow direction.
    • Maturity to deal effectively with the demands of the job.
