    Senior EKG Technician

    Job Summary

    The Senior EKG Technician works closely with the stress labs exercise physiologist and nurse practitioner of the EKG and Stress Testing Lab to provide care and services as directed. The senior EKG technician assures that office functions are maintained, all records are completed appropriately and equipment and supplies are ordered and received. Other responsibilities include performing EKG recordings, processing EKGs for the physician reading panel, and performing Holter monitor hook-ups. The senior EKG technician is responsible for training all existing and new staff that performs EKG and/or Stress Lab services and coordinates with administrative supervisor to assure proper coverage for EKG services. Edits, processes, archives and educates staff with adult and pediatric 12/15 lead ECGs utilizing the MUSE archive System.

    The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

    Please note: An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

    For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

    Required Qualifications

    • High school diploma
    • Certification and completion of an Electrocardiogram Technician Training (CVT) program or equivalent
    • Three to five years of experience as an EKG technician
    • Proficient in the use of computer applications

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Education equivalent to an AA degree
    • Experience using computer EKG Management and Electronic Medical Record systems

    License/Certification

    • Current CPR certification and ability to recognize arrhythmias
