Job Description

Under the direction of a Radiologist, the Interventional Radiology Technician specializes in performing invasive procedures to aid in the evaluation of pathological entities as prescribed by a physician.

Responsibilities

Explain examination procedures to patients and prepare them for the examination.
Obtain additional information about the patient's medical history as necessary.
Prepare prescribed contrast media, medications, and IV solutions for administration.
Review clinical data, analyze anatomical structure, and assist Radiologist in complex diagnostic invasive procedures.
Prepare and set up sterile equipment, physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment.
Ensure adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored.
Assess patient condition before, during, and following all procedures.
Manually control equipment to obtain proper diagnostic information.
Assist with the training of new personnel and/or students assigned to the division.
Perform quality assurance procedures as appropriate.
Documentation in medical records and within the radiology information system.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

Minimum of 3 years previous experience in a similar role.
Experience in a Trauma Level 1 facility.
Cath Lab experience.
Current BLS certification.
ARRT certification (with advanced registry in CI, VI, or CV preferred).
