- More Time in School: Extended day, week, and school year focused on academic learning and unique enrichment activities (e.g., Robotics, Digital Media, Coding, Debate, Visual Arts).
- High-Dose Tutoring: Personalized, small-group tutoring from trained college graduates for at least two hours daily.
- Next Generation Learning: A college prep curriculum with Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) -focused enrichment activities to prepare students to succeed in jobs of the future.
- Perform preventative maintenance of buildings and grounds.
- Repair structural damages such as sheetrock/drywall, carpentry, painting, etc.
- Perform plumbing related duties as needed such as fixing leaking faucets, toilet sinks, etc.
- Perform basic electrical repairs, including replacing bulbs, ballast, and fixtures as needed.
- Complete painting assignments.
- Monitor and replace emergency lighting, exit signs, and door entry battery units.
- Recognize potential safety issues in and around the building and grounds and act to correct.
- Build, repair, and install counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, and trim; use carpenter's hand tools
and power tools. - Be able to assemble, move, and (re)arrange furniture.
- Mount objects to and repair walls.
- Be able to Change locks, outlets, lightbulbs, ballast, switches, thermostats, filters, flushometers, toilet seat and
covers. - Ensure that the work site and conditions are safe.
- Make independent assessments for repair and maintenance needs while assisting and following directives of

- Janitorial or custodial experience preferred
- Ability to perform maintenance tasks

- Consult with administrative personnel and Network for planning, prioritizing, and scheduling custodial activities and achieving site maintenance objectives.
- Maintains necessary supplies and equipment to ensure custodial items are available to maintain facilities properly. Maintains the exterior of the sites, including snow/ice removal, trash removals as needed
- Performs maintenance building repairs (e.g. electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.) to maintain a safe and attractive building. Replenishes classroom and restroom supplies (e.g. paper towels, soap, etc.) to ensure adequate quantities for daily use.
- Ability to self-manage in a highly professional work environment, which requires interfacing with constituencies at the network and school levels

ABOUT THE ROLE:
The School Custodian is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and improving Brooklyn Lab infrastructure, equipment, and grounds. This role involves performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring that all operations comply with safety and quality standards.
The Administrative Assistant will report directly to the High School Office Manager and Chief Operating Officer.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Brooklyn LAB staff will receive a competitive salary and benefits package that improves over time and is competitive with other New York City charter schools.
The salary for this role is budgeted from $45,000-55,000 annually, commensurate with experience and expertise.
