- Overall, McGough Environmental, Health & Safety, and risk control policy and procedure compliance on job sites
- Lead, direct and enforce safety on multiple construction projects, based on the safety staffing requirements as defined by the Safety Director.
- Identify, eliminate, and control hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and/or property damage using job-specific safety standards, best management practices, training, and disciplinary techniques.
- Partnering with Project Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents and Foreman
- Mentoring and coaching onsite crew
- Fostering and building relationships to ensure safety compliance with owners, design partners, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Minimum 2 years of building construction safety experience or equivalent education and experience
- OSHA 30 training
- First Aid/CPR/BBP and AED training
- Knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques and knowledge of OSHA 1926 and 1910
- Achievement of CHST is required within two years of appointment to this position.

- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite programs
- Four-year degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management or Engineering, or related degree
- CCSP designation certification preferred.
- Bilingual would be a plus.
- Perform all functions and responsibilities in partnership with McGough's culture, corporate vision, ethics and code of conduct
- Build positive working relationships with the Safety Team, McGough project and job site staff and subcontractor safety representatives
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of the overall project safety program
- Manage time and resource allocation appropriately to provide overall safety leadership to assigned project(s)
- Strive for continued growth of professional knowledge and skills to contribute to the team dynamic
- Be active in safety committees in the region
- Enforce safety program and related policies and procedures and implement immediate corrective actions in accordance with McGough, federal, state, and local regulations and owner requirements
- Aid project management personnel to ensure compliance with all safety, accident, and fire programs, procedures, and policies
- Stop any unsafe practices, train on correct behavior, and recommend suitable disciplinary action
- At the start of each project, hold a pre-construction planning meeting with McGough job site staff and subcontractors to review the overall site safety program and job hazard analysis for their scope of work, and ensure plans are in place to mitigate risks
- Provide technical and administrative direction to on-site safety personnel
- Involvement in OSHA inspections and related follow-up
- Accident/incident investigation
- Research safety topics
- Conduct weekly job site walk-throughs/audits with Superintendent/Foremen to identify hazards and train safe behavior
- Conduct bi-weekly site-wide safety meetings focusing on timely and relevant activities to the job site
- Train employees utilizing company-provided safety and hazard awareness training programs
- Recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective procedures
- Thoroughly investigate all incidents and accidents
- Evaluate training needs and make recommendations to the Safety Team, jobsite leadership, and/or subcontractors
- Perform job site inspections and prepare reports (PowerPoint/Excel) to submit to the Safety Director
- Review all safety documentation/reports for accuracy and completeness
- Track and identify trends
- Maintain job site-specific safety administrative files and records
- Ability to pass customer-required background and security screenings
- Hold a valid driver's license with a clear record
- Assume additional assignments/tasks as needed

Position involves sitting for extended periods of time while working at a computer terminal. Employee must be able to communicate effectively in a typical office environment with a standard level of office noise. Occasional standing, bending, walking, and lifting are also required.
Employee will be required to visit construction jobsites, which may expose the employee to dirt, dust, uneven surfaces, outdoor weather conditions, and extreme temperatures. In addition, employee must be able to move around prospective or current project sites. This includes climbing ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, walking long distances, and climbing stairs.
