    This position is mobile/remote with base possible in NC or AL and travel out to customer sites.

    Purpose:
    Sales Manager will manage customers and Account Managers in assigned territories. Ensure that high levels of profit are delivered from existing clients and current sales volume is maintained.

    Will ensure that all accounts are serviced and ensure that all opportunities to up-sell, upgrade, and add value to product lines is accomplished.

    Develop and submit quotes in pursuit of new business, and plan and direct customer trials in pursuit of new business.

    Act as point of contact in investigating product performance problems and coordinate with Account Managers, Regional Sales Managers, manufacturing, R&D and other Vesuvius resources to resolve issues.

    Sales Manager will be expected to abide by all Vesuvius and customer safety requirements.

    Key accountabilities:
    Responsible for the health and safety of Vesuvius personnel at the site.
    First line of communication from external customer to internal Vesuvius support groups on all issues.
    Manage daily service activities such as:

    Inventory control
    Product usage forecast and delivery schedules
    Obtaining and processing appropriate information for timely invoicing
    Routine data collection
    Preventative and emergency equipment maintenance

    Coordination of customer's personnel relative to installation and handling of refractory material.
    Recognizes and acts on opportunities for continuous improvement in:

    Refractory performance
    Customer's efficiency
    Vesuvius profitability

    Works with technical support teams to implement appropriate emerging technologies
    Manages all project work at customer's site.
    Prepares and presents monthly, quarterly and annual performance reports for both internal and external publication.
    Communicates relevant district, customer competitive activity to management and marketing staff, including market share analysis.
    Manages District expenses according to corporate ad budget guidelines

    Qualifications:
    BS in Ceramic Engineering or Materials Science preferred.
    3+ years' experience with steel making, industrial ceramics, refractory installation or construction is desired.
    Prior managerial experience

    Skills:
    Basic mechanical skills to allow for the service of associated refractory application equipment.
    Reasonable computer skills (Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, etc.).
    Good interpersonal skills including oral and written communications, team leadership and presentation.
    Strategic sales planning experience.
    Ability to manage multiple issues and projects within a specified timeframe.
    Ability to develop and manage customer relationships at multiple levels within the customer including plant manager to hourly employees.
    Ability to manage internal communications with commercial, technical and customer service teams.
    Ability to recognize and act on continuous improvement opportunities.
