    MAINTENANCE/LABORER TECHNICIAN

    • Maintenance Technician works under the supervision of the Water Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent
    • This is only a partial list of duties. You are expected to do whatever it takes to maintain the water system Most work is outside
    • There will be some overtime (Volunteer & Mandatory) Most work is outside
    • Be available by phone 24 hours a day unless scheduled with supervisor or on vacation
    • Be primary person on call when scheduled
    • Take water quality samples for quality, bacteria, chlorine, lead and copper, hardness, iron, manganese, etc.
    • Handle daily work orders and pump rounds with others or by yourself
    • Flush hydrants as needed
    • Acquire CDL and maintain them
    • Use equipment such as dump truck/trailer, excavator, skid steer, tiller, jack hammer, tools
    • Repair leaks; install services, dress-up damaged areas, using manual labor
    • Mow grass, weed eat, paint, service vehicles, clean per chart such as warehouses, men's restroom
    • General maintenance of all company property and vehicles
    • Test meters, change meters and ERT'S as needed
    • Attend training sessions as required
    • Maintain/ monitor system operation using SCADA system
    • Other duties as assigned by management
    • Not a requirement but would be beneficial to be certified operator of water distribution system (DSL)
    • Not a requirement but would be beneficial to be certified operator of water treatment (WT3)
    • Must divide time between the indoor activities of an office environment and the more exertive requirements of lifting, bending, pulling, carrying, crawling, standing, and crouching for periods of time, when performing the duties of a Maintenance Technician
    • Employees are subject to hazards of handling chlorine gas hook ups and adjustments to dosage
    • Maintenance Technician is periodically required to work outdoors regardless of weather conditions
    • Must live within 15 minutes of the Town of Edinburgh Water Department
