  • Recruit and screen patients for the projects which focus on children with extremely severe, impairing irritability and their families. 4

  • Provide structured psychotherapy in the form of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).
  • Conduct clinical ratings during outpatient treatment studies and longitudinal clinical studies.
  • Perform and interpret neuropsychological assessments to probands and family members as part of research protocols.
  • Provide family support and crisis management services as needed.
  • Provide referral to appropriate NIH resources and community services, when indicated.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of clinical research in the capacity of clinical support staff.
  • Conduct and score a wide range of complex structured and semi-structured interviews(such as SCID, the K-SADS and many others) to the child and adolescent probands and the parents of the probands.
  • Conduct screening/baseline evaluations in collaboration with staff.
  • Conduct preliminary evaluation of potential probands through extensive telephone interviewing of parent, review of medical records, consultation with treating professionals, and consultation with NIMH medical staff, leading to acceptance for onsite evaluation or rejection with referral if indicated.
  • Interface with schools on Client recruitment projects; meet with public school personnel and staff on a regular basis during recruitment periods to ensure participation in research; meet with school personnel to determine suitability of research participation within the schools.
  • Provide informational sessions to parent groups, students, teachers and counselors.
  • Write and comprise information and consent forms to present to schools.
  • Write, research and comprise information in accordance with the privacy policy within the private schools targeted in the DC area; meet with private school personnel and staff during the recruitment process.
  • Perform screening evaluations of potential research subjects using structured and semi structured testing methods.
  • Conduct patient and volunteer follow-up evaluations and track patients through longitudinal studies.
  • Provides screening and recruitment of patients for research protocols.
  • Participate in patient and volunteer recruitment efforts for protocols.

  • Educates research staff regarding the use, strengths and limitation of psychological testing.
  • Provide teaching and training and other presentations to various groups within NIH and to outside community stakeholders regarding conditions being studied and research findings.
  • Train research assistants, staff and trainees on psychiatric screening interviews and neuropsychological assessments.
  • Train research staff and volunteers on diagnostic interviews and clinical efficacy scales and conduct performance reliability checks.
  • Conducts psychological testing of patients and healthy controls.
  • Conduct structured and semi-structured interviews with probands and families of probands.
  • Conduct clinical ratings during outpatient treatment studies and longitudinal clinical studies.
  • Conduct screening and baseline evaluations in collaboration with staff.
  • Conduct frequent assessments to monitor the participants' progress and the effectiveness of therapeutic protocols.
  • Utilize structured instruments and assessments to perform diagnostic assessments.
  • Performs as senior clinician responsible for conducting research ratings for inpatients and outpatients.
  • Participate in research group meetings and in the decision-making process regarding patient inclusion in the studies, patient and parent diagnosis, and patient and family management throughout participation in the research protocol.
  • Work with staff to code, score and tabulate research data and optimize methods of data collection depending on research objectives.
  • Documents research processes and findings.
  • Write research summaries and reports of findings related to clinical research.
  • Write and present manuals, standard operating procedures, and guidelines for clinical research involving or related to clinical psychology.
