Hospital Safety Officer Job Description

The primary objective of the Hospital Safety Officer is to implement and enforce a comprehensive safety management program throughout the hospital. This role requires close collaboration with the Inventory Manager to ensure seamless inventory processing, organization, and regular audits.

Main Responsibilities:

• Coordinate the implementation of safety systems in the hospital to promote workplace safety policies and procedures.
• Assist with radiology safety, MRI safety, CT safety, and active surveillance programs.
• Assess, oversee, and coordinate occupational safety and health programs using knowledge of safety and operating procedures, policies, and regulations.

Essential Job Functions:

• Maintain and stock first aid boxes and PPE supplies.
• Maintain and monitor dosimetry badges, radiology PPE, and additional supplies.
• Oversee and process quarterly culture and sensitivity surveillance, monitoring outbreaks, adjusting cleaning protocols as needed.
• Introduce staff to safety compliance policies throughout the hospital and monitor compliance.
• Ensure compliance with federal & state regulations and requirements as needed.

Inventory Management:

• Maintain inventory in storage locations and request low stock items as needed.
• Assist with troubleshooting Cubex, providing support with malfunctions including manual logging during outages.
• Review inventory regularly and report expired products and drugs to Inventory Manager.

Requirements:

• High School degree or equivalent required.
• Ability to understand and interpret written material, including technical information, rules, regulations, executive orders, and laws.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.

Schedule and Physical Demands:

40 Hours/Wk
5 - 8 hour Days

This job classification requires that the applicant be capable of standing continuously for up to four hours with little or no breaks and able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Applicants must be able to stand, sit, see and hear.

">$65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
