- Perform a wide variety of skilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of commercial HVAC systems and components.
- Plan, direct, and record periodic electrical and control testing and recommend or initiate modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards.
- Develop wiring diagrams and layout drawings for system or equipment modifications or expansions, install and connect control wiring and conduit for newly installed equipment.
- Troubleshoot and maintain all hydronic systems including chill water, hot water, boilers, chillers and geo-thermal equipment and devices.
- Study system blueprints, specifications, and performance data to determine configuration and purpose of system components such as motors, pumps, fans, switches, ducts, or pipes and inspects system to verify system compliance with specifications and to detect malfunction in system component parts.
- Assemble and maintain A/C control devices, solenoids, thermostats, pressure switches, temperature switches and all other HVAC related equipment and components.
- Retrofit equipment with appropriate refrigerants including the proper flushing and changing of oil as required.
- Test coils, armatures, stator, rotor and field coils for continuity, shorts and grounds and insulation resistance; examine equipment for broken or defective wiring.
- Test performance of air and water systems to isolate problems and determine where adjustments are necessary.
- Troubleshoot and maintain force draft as well as natural draft heaters, boilers, and hot water systems.
- Inspect and service all HVAC related equipment including heat pumps, chillers and VRF systems, adjust and maintain internal electrical and electronic control systems.
- Troubleshoot and maintain electronic controls including starters, VFD, thermostats, timers and all other related temperature, safety, and control devices.
- Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of HVAC equipment; repair problems with pumps, including line shafts, centrifugal and submersible pumps; and replaces motor bearings and motors.
- Gather tools and supplies to be used at jobsite; maintain tools, equipment, parts and supplies in proper order; and cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
- Inspect and observe pressure of liquids and vapor with instrumentation to ensure efficient operation of units and makes necessary adjustments.
- Observes and complies with all mandated safety rules, regulations, and protocols.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Install new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in a timely manner
- Inspect and perform equipment repairs and replacements providing great customer service
- Perform routine preventative maintenance
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests
- Minimum 10 years Previous experience in HVAC installation including chillers & boilers, roof top units, RTU's and split systems.
- Familiarity with HVAC wiring diagrams and blueprints with excellent electrical trouble shooting skills
- Ability to handle physical workload
- Must hold a Universal EPA license
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
- valid driver's license and ability to pass background and badging checks and drug test
- Communicate effectively with co-workers, customers
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop kneel, twist, stretch, reach and climb and ability to lift/carry up to 75 lbs.
