JOB DESCRIPTION:
Surety Center of Excellence (Surety COE) is looking for a Broker to join their team in various locations such as Dallas, TX, Morristown, NJ, New York, NY, or Philadelphia, PA.
You will handle both existing client relationships and work on generating new ones. This role offers you the chance to build and manage a portfolio of clients relatively quickly compared to the usual timeframe.
The ideal candidate should possess strong listening and analytical skills, attention to detail, proactive problem-solving abilities, and effective sales management.
The current team at Surety COE includes three experienced brokers with significant expertise in reinsurance underwriting/broking and primary surety underwriting, having established a strong presence in the US market and working on expanding globally.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee reinsurance placements from beginning to end, including post-placement activities to cater to client requirements beyond renewals.
- Formulate marketing and renewal strategies to present to senior Surety COE brokers.
- Collaborate with contract wording units to draft agreements addressing client-sought modifications.
- Work closely with actuarial teams to devise renewal pricing tactics and recommendations.
- Coordinate with accounting and claims departments to ensure prompt handling of premium payments and claims processing, tackling arising issues promptly.
- Build strong relationships with clients to be seen as a trusted advisor across all facets of their operations.
- Seek guidance from senior Surety COE brokers when dealing with reinsurance or client-related challenges.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 to 7 years' experience in surety underwriting/broking and/or reinsurance broking.
- A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or Accounting is preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools, particularly in PowerPoint and Excel.
- Strong problem-solving skills in financial, economic, and statistical domains.
**ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:**
- A Master's degree in Business Administration.
- Associate in Surety Bonding (AFSB designation).
- Held leadership positions in surety industry associations.
