    Job Title

    Automation Controls Specialist III

    The Automation Controls Specialist III applies knowledge of various building trades, such as electrical, mechanical, telecommunications and information systems networks, to computer-based control systems and building automation and environmental control energy equipment in commercial and industrial buildings.

    This individual should be able to interface with customers, architects, engineers, and contractors to install and service building automation systems, including project start-up and commissioning.

    Responsibilities

    • Diagnose and repair electronic control system malfunctions
    • Manage assigned work to meet professional execution, time, and customer satisfaction standards
    • Report problems or changes to management immediately
    • Interface with Service Manager, Service Project Manager, and subcontractors on projects to coordinate activities in an ethical and professional manner
    • Ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions
    • Ability to work in a team environment providing dedicated support to our customers
    • Work according to project timelines and required processes
    • Edit PPCL/code on site in demanding situations
    • Edit and create graphics
    • Ability to distinguish between electrical , HVAC, controls, and IT problems.
    • Work with IT departments/building control system to ensure IP scheme is correct
    • Assist in the development and support of data collection processes

    Requirements

    • Strong knowledge and understanding of the tools and techniques used to maintain, diagnose problems, and repair HVAC/R and associated electrical systems
    • Associate Degree with 5 years experience in Direct Digital controls or 15 plus year experience
    • Ability to work with engineering to help improve Automation/Mechanical systems
    • Experience with Bacnet Protocol and Niagara Ax/Tridium Platform
    • IT/NETWORK skills required.
    • Experience with programming, job start-up and checkout, and troubleshooting of building automation systems
    • Ability to diagnose and repair complex control systems
    • Knowledge of BACNET/LON/MODBUS protocols
    • Knowledge of DDC, PLC or similar Ladder-Logic programming
    • Extensive knowledge of multiple DDC systems
    • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics
    • Ability to work safely with hand and power tools
    • Ability to work at heights and on ladders
    • Ability to work in confined spaces
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
    • Proficient with computers
    • Demonstrate an attention to detail
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds
    • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record
    • May be required to pass a drug test
    • May be required to work overtime, weekends, on-call, holidays
