    Summary:


    Under the general supervision of the Manager of Workforce Development (WFD) provides nursing services consistent with onboarding new students while building Lifespans Nursing Assistant (N.A.) Institution.

    Is accountable and responsible in the primary role of clinical excellence and the supporting roles of consultant educator leader and researcher for quality nursing care and instruction.

    The role of Senior Nurse Educator is guided by American Nurses Association Nursing Administration and Professional Development Scope and Standards.


    Responsibilities:


    Consistently applies the corporate values of compassion accountability respect and excellence in improving the health status of the people of the region through the provision of customer-friendly geographically accessible and high-value services within the environment of a comprehensive integrated academic health system.


    Is responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with the principles of the Lifespan Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.

    Monitors and evaluates nursing practice to ensure it is consistent with state N.A. testing standards.


    Collaborates with the clinical leaders and Rhode Island Department of Health and leads in the development of the department(s) quality plan and establishes content for the N.A.

    school that are aligned with the hospitals overall initiatives and/or new program development. Collaborates with appropriate multidisciplinary team members in developing innovative programs and in solidifying relationships and linkages that foster adoption and sustenance of innovations

    Utilizes clinical expertise and Evidence-Based practice to provide direction to staff in making program changes. Assists Staff Nurses in becoming familiar with the process/programs

    Works in partnership with WFD on activities such as interviewing N.A. candidates participating in hiring decisions setting objectives providing input for the quality section of performance recognition summaries and providing input for corrective action plans up to and including termination of program

    In conjunction with the WFD Manager designs evaluates revises training and formal continuing education programs for the N.A. program. Provides guidance and instruction to staff preceptors evaluates teaching behaviors providing consistent feedback and role modeling.

    Provides recommendations for capital budget purposes.

    Provides immunization education to each Workforce Development cohort

    Organizes/provides fit testing for each Workforce Development cohort.


    Reviews immunization records for all Workforce Development students and ensures all documents required per Employee and Occupational Health Services (EOHS) policy are in place.

    Acts as resource to staff in response to unique situations with vaccine records.

    Acts as an extension of EOHS for COVID related questions/concerns.

    Creates and maintains the N.A. curriculum for the Lifespan school.

    Creates and maintains nursing assistant exams for each N.A. cohort.

    Grades exams weekly.

    Provides students with academic support/tutoring as needed.

    Will teach both lecture and labs classes for each nursing assistant cohort

    Coordinate and teach clinical at a Lifespan affiliate

    Will be the direct contact for the Department of Health for any licensing concerns.

    Will oversee the nurses hired for the nursing assistant school.

    Aid in creating policies for the Nursing Assistant School.

    Ensure lab supplies are always in stock.


    All essential functions performed in this position respect the age gender language and other cultural and social needs of the patients.

    Maintains quality assurance safety environmental and infection control in accordance with established policies procedures and objectives.

    Performs other duties as assigned.


    Other information:


    Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursingorlicensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.


    BASIC KNOWLEDGE
    Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to build an academic institution.

    Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred.


    Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island.

    Must have current American Heart Association Basic Life-Support for Providers certification.

    Develops and maintains expertise in the field to address questions and provide strategic direction for quality.


    EXPERIENCE:
    Minimum of 2-3 years relevant clinical experience in hospital setting with demonstrated teaching/leadership and communication skills preferred.

    Intermediate computer skill

    Strong interpersonal skills

    Previous teaching experience in clinical settings preferred.


    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Prolonged standing and walking. May be required to lift push or pull equipment up to 35 pounds. Repeated bending squatting stooping.


    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
    Would oversee nurse instructors hired. Provide direct supervision complete payroll and performance evaluations.
