    MBA Business Communications instructor

    Position Summary

    The Full-Time MBA Program is seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our program as a business communications instructor. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in developing the communication skills of our students, preparing them to affect change in a multitude of organizations and environments.

    Curriculum Development:

    • Design and develop an engaging and comprehensive curriculum for graduate business communications courses (involving graduate students from multiple programs), ensuring alignment with program objectives and industry standards. Course areas will include: executive communication, crisis communication, business storytelling, digital communication, global business communication.
    • Integrate relevant case studies, real-world examples, and current business communication trends into the curriculum.

    Instruction and Facilitation:

    • Deliver high-quality course sessions, workshops, and interactive sessions to MBA students, covering various aspects of business communication, including written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment that encourages active participation and critical thinking.
    • This individual will be expected to teach a course load of graduate-level, in-person courses (9 credits per Academic Year) including:
      • Business Communication
      • Advanced Business Communication
      • Crisis Communication/Adaptive Communication
      • Communication Strategies for Analytics
      • Other graduate level communication courses as program needs arise

    Assessment and Feedback:

    • Develop and implement effective assessment strategies to evaluate students' communication skills and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
    • Utilize a variety of assessment methods, such as presentations, written assignments, and group projects.

    Industry Integration:

    • Stay current with industry trends and developments in business communication.
    • Establish connections with industry professionals and incorporate real-world insights into the curriculum.

    Case Competition Advising

    • Develop and sustain a process to identify student talent to participate in co-curricular learning opportunities.
    • Provide coaching and instruction to student case teams before, during and after the competition process to ensure academic objectives and college priorities are met.

    Mentorship:

    • Develop infrastructure and guidance to include communications coaches (graduate/teaching assistants or other qualified students) in the facilitation of business communications courses.
    • Provide mentorship and guidance to MBA students, helping them develop their communication skills for diverse business contexts.

    Professional Development:

    • Engage in continuous professional development to enhance teaching methodologies and stay abreast of the latest advancements in business communication.

    Required Degree

    Doctorate -Communication, Business, Management

    Minimum Requirements

    The Instructor position requires a master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Communication, Business, Management). The Assistant/Associate/Professor positions require a Doctoral degree in a relevant field.
    Demonstrated expertise in business communication, with a focus on applications in a corporate or other high-profile administrative setting. Previous experience teaching at the post-baccalaureate level, preferably in a business program. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of students, staff and other faculty. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
