    Description

    Job Summary

    This Chemist position is responsible for developing and implementing new products and product revisions to generate new sales revenue and improve profitability. The ideal candidate will have expertise in product development, manufacturing engineering, and cost reduction.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement new products and product revisions to increase sales revenue and contribution margin.
    • Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities throughout the product lines to reduce costs and improve contribution margins.
    • Manage projects from planning to completion, collaborating with the Engineering and New Product Development Manager.
    • Provide support in manufacturing engineering techniques and principles related to equipment, products, and processes.
    • Create detailed project scopes and timelines, and assist in conceptualizing projects outside of the Engineering Department.
    • Develop goals for process improvements within the chemical department and implement changes.
    • Oversee quality control testing of raw materials and finished products.
    • Prepare sample batches, perform product analysis, and test performance.
    • Maintain accurate documentation and inventory of lab supplies.
    • Serve as a technical expert for laboratory equipment and maintain good housekeeping practices.

    Requirements

    • Experience in performing ASTM and other standardized test methods.
    • Project management experience, including Microsoft Project proficiency.
    • Microsoft Office 365 knowledge and Lean/Six Sigma concepts preferred.
    • Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
    • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
