    Duties and Responsibilities

    As a Psychiatrist at OMH, you will play a crucial role in providing mental health services to those we serve. Your comprehensive and recovery-oriented psychiatric treatment services will be built on principles of effective, measurable, and accountable care.

    You will work as a medical doctor, ensuring that all services are integrated to promote mental and physical health and recovery. Additionally, you will serve as primary prescribers of psychopharmacology, an integral component of modern mental health treatment.

    Patient Care: You will diagnose, treat, prescribe, and provide psychiatric care and treatment services to assigned individuals under the direction of a higher-level psychiatrist or physician.

    Leadership Role: As a licensed psychiatrist, you will provide clinical supervision and guidance to lower-level psychiatrists, physicians, and/or other medical providers.

    Qualifications and Requirements

    To be eligible for this position, you must have a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State and certification in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN).

    Alternatively, candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
