Position / Title:
Design Manager location onsite Tinley Park, Illinois

Summary Description:

Responsible for managing the design team and delivering design documentation for various project types as specified by the project and the client.

Reports To:
VP Engineering, Operations Manager, or Project Executive

Direct Reports:
Project specific Project Engineers, Superintendents, and administrative support

Major Areas of Responsibility:
Lead a design team with sub-consultants from several disciplines.

Experienced in many projects, including industrial, waste management, recycling, resource recovery, environmental remediation, and food and beverage facilities, from idea to construction.

Create concept designs for new industrial facilities.
Effectively manage multi-disciplinary design. Lead owner communication and client management.

Respond to contractor RFIs and submittals - Create and manage project schedules - Contribute to cost estimations and proposals - Maintain project documentation - Lead design meetings Travel to client or project sites - 25%.

Required Experience and Competencies:
A demonstrated ability to manage teams and solve challenges creatively.

Requirements for this position include 10-15 years of technical expertise in design and team management, as well as a BS in engineering (preferably mechanical or electrical).

Engineering license is necessary.
Construction and Design-Build experience is desirable.
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook)
Excellent analytical capabilities.
Strong interpersonal skills and incredibly resourceful
Proven ability to accomplish projects within the specified scope, budget, and timetable.
Strong knowledge of project management software tools, processes, and best practices.
