    Description

    Job Summary:

    The Assurance Process & Control Director is responsible for guiding the proper design, implementation, and operation of core assurance's business processes and underlying policies, procedures, and controls that are crucial for the consistent performance of high-quality audits and other assurance-type engagements.

    Job Duties:

  • Collaborates with accountable parties and other members on project workstreams in the development of policies and design of corresponding controls; reports status and other information including challenges, obstacles, and future steps to applicable Governing Committee and others, as applicable
  • Develops dashboard or other tools to provide visibility into wins, delays, and overall results to date
  • Supports teams in Professional Practice, Operations, and Risk Management to design, implement, operate, and continuously improve business processes and underlying policies, procedures and controls (see also "train, coach and support" item below)
  • Collaborates and coordinates with Quality Management to ensure proper remediation of applicable quality control deficiencies including assisting with meeting the PCAOB's 5 remediation criteria
  • Works closely with assigned project manager and project administrator
  • Supports SoQM team in its obtaining of information needed to perform direct testing of key controls
  • Supports process owners in their certification of processes for annual SoQM documentation
  • Trains, coaches, and supports process and control owners to ensure: Accurate descriptions of processes Appropriate risk identification That controls address the risks ("WCGWs") identified Appropriate review (or monitoring) controls are designed and operating (consistently and timely) to assess compliance with controls If controls and other actions are not in place to address the risks, guide the proper design and implementation of such activities including assisting with satisfying the PCAOB's 5 remediation criteria where applicable Continuous improvement for an effective, robust environment that results in consistent performance of high-quality audits and other assurance-type engagements There is a continuous learning culture when it comes to processes and controls Standardized documentation across the core assurance practice and ensure documentation is sufficient to demonstrate consistent execution (and in accordance with the requirements of draft QC 1000)
  • Guides remediation solutions when there are breakdowns as part of continuous improvement and strengthening applicable processes and controls
  • Builds processes to ensure that controls and relevant policies are implemented and operating effectively
  • Builds processes to ensure that risks are updated and mitigated on a timely basis
  • Identifies improvements that will increase the efficiency/effectiveness of the control environment, inclusive of data management needs across the organization

  • Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, required
  • Master of Business Administration or Masters in Accounting degree, preferred
  • Experience:

  • Ten (10) or more years of accounting experience, required
  • Prior supervisory experience, required
  • License/Certifications:

  • CPA certification, required
  • Software:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, required
  • Experience with assurance research databases, such as APT, preferred
  • Language:

  • N/A
  • Other Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of technical aspects of auditing, as well as GAAP, GAAS, SEC, GAGAS, Single Audit and PCAOB rules and regulations, as applicable
  • Superior knowledge of public audit processes, policies, and procedures
  • Outstanding communication skills
