    Job Description:
    Orthopedic Service Line Director


    The Orthopedic Service Line Director provides vision and leadership for the development of orthopedic programs and services to meet the needs of the community.

    In a matrixed reporting structure, they provide overall leadership and coordination of all aspects of orthopedic services in the provision of service and quality patient care.

    This leader is also responsible for daily and overall efficient operation of assigned clinic, including staff performance, patient care processes and outcomes, patient/family satisfaction, and prudent resource management.

    The manager will develop, execute, and oversee aspects of service delivery, quality assurance, governmental regulations, regulatory compliance, program policies and practices.

    The position will be hands-on and interact and coordinate with management, staff, and patients.


    SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Ability to role model Bay Area Hospital Behavioral Standards
    • Understanding of HIPAA, ADA, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.
    • Demonstrates leadership skills- Working effectively under stress and in frequently changing job requirements/situations
    • Flexible, able to prioritize and address multiple responsibilities concurrently while exercising good judgement and effective critical thinking skills
    • Demonstrates the ability to operate applicable office equipment
    • Exhibits the ability to deal effectively, interdepartmentally and with the public
    • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
    • Excellent verbal, presentation, written and interpersonal communication skills
    • Ability to work collaboratively, influencing decisions and outcomes, facilitating consensus in the organization
    • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop recommendations and solutions
    • Highly skilled at needs assessment, facilitation of project implementation, and organizational change or development
    • Knowledge of orthopedic clinical workflow in inpatient and outpatient settings
    • Extensive knowledge in project management philosophy with the ability to coordinate, plan and execute projects with wide-ranging and complicated interrelationships
    • Able to deliver projects on time and within budget
    • Ability to relate to all levels of the user community and translate technical language to lay audiences
    • Ability to be team player that motivates and educates other team members
    • Ability to link and apply complex technologies to business strategies
    • Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location
    EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/DEGREES


    • Bachelor's degree in health care administration, business or clinical science or related field required
    • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Master's degree in Health/Hospital Administration, Public Health, Nursing or equivalent related field
    * preferred. May be enrolled and complete within 2 years of hire


    EXPERIENCE

    • 3-5 years of recent progressive leadership experience
    • Experience leading large and small groups preferred

    Physical/Mental/Environmental Requirements


    • Able to stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and stretch frequently
    • Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs
    • Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision
    • Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects
    • Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair
    • May be required to lift up to 75 pounds
    • Must use standard precautions due to threat of exposure to blood and bodily fluids Needs ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
    • Requires significant use of personal computer
