General Summary:
The Nurse in Charge (NIC) is a designated clinical leader for a patient care area who works under the supervision of and in collaboration with the Emergency Department Director to plan and coordinate care at the service/department level.
This position is responsible and accountable for:
o Determining staff assignment and scheduling
Minimum licensure/certification required (if applicable):
Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
BLS certified; additional Life Support training as applicable to unit requirements.
Department specific specialty certification required within six months of start of position.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
Baccalaureate and/or Master's degree in nursing required. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of specialty specific experience in an acute care setting.
Advanced computer skills to include data entry and retrieval, including Microsoft specialty products.
Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends English language.
Ability to effectively communicate complex and comprehensive information thoroughly and succinctly.
