    Senior Accountant – Fixed Assets

    POSITION SUMMARY:
    We are seeking an organized, hands-on, detailed oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team.

    The primary responsibility of the Senior Accountant position is to ensure timely and accurate accounting and reporting for Fixed Assets, CIP Projects, Leases, and related Business Personal Property Taxes for its various cost centers.

    The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing the company's fixed assets, and leases, ensuring accurate recording, tracking, and reporting of corresponding transactions in compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

    This position is also responsible to perform related balance sheet reconciliations and developing streamlined processes and procedures within the department.

    This position works with various financial governmental auditors with respect to protect audit preparations.

    The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, experience with fixed asset management software, including lease accounting software, and have excellent analytical skills.

    This is a full-time position based in our Hayward office.

    The Fixed Asset Accountant will report to the Controller and will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company's fixed asset/lease accounting records.


    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
    Maintains accurate fixed asset records, including acquisitions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.

    Assists in formulating accounting policy and procedures involved in the tracking of job costs and maintaining fixed assets and lease-related records.

    Prepares journal entries and reconciles fixed asset subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger on a monthly basis.
    Updates and maintains the lease accounting system and related journal entries.
    Prepares, submits, and ensures the timely payment of personal property tax statements for the Company's various cost center locations.
    Reviews and updates the records for and facilitates the timely payment of the company's lease obligations.
    Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including facilities, operations, to ensure proper capitalization of assets and timely recording of transactions.
    Updates and maintains the lease accounting system and related journal entries.
    Assists in the preparation of fixed asset-related schedules for internal and external audits.
    Monitors and researches changes in accounting standards related to fixed assets/leases and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    Provides support and guidance to other finance team members regarding fixed asset accounting and lease matters.
    Communicates the understanding and role of Fixed Asset Accounting and related processes within the organization.
    Participates in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
    All other duties as assigned.
    SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
    Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of financial accounting and GAAP.

    Requisite experience handling large volumes of data across multiple projects and relating that data to financial, costing, fixed assets policies, and regulations.

    Thorough knowledge of company policies and procedures and the ability to apply that knowledge on a daily basis.

    Possess excellent communication and organizational skills, attention to detail with excellent problem solving, and the desire to be a strong contributor to the department.

    Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.
    Knowledge of tax regulations related to fixed assets is an advantage.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA certification preferred, or related field OR a combination of successful equivalent experience and education.

    Knowledgeable and experienced with processing, verifying, balancing, and adjusting basic and complex transactions.

    Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, reporting skills- creating own reports, and experience with fixed asset management software (e.g., Sage Intacct, Fixed Assets, FinQuery (formerly LeaseQuery).

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    This position requires close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; Ability to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and making fine discriminations in sound; Exerting up to 15 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Must be able to remain in a stationary position and/or upright, for prolonged periods of time, traverse stairs, reach overhead, squat, bend, kneel, stoop, and crouch occasionally during 8-hour work shift.
