    Mechanical Engineer—sheet Metal Design

    to join its dynamic team. This role is available immediately and provides a great growth opportunity for the right candidate. It is a full-time, exempt position, and candidates report directly to the Engineering Manager.

    Primary Job Function:


    Mechanical Engineer – Sheet Metal Design will be critical in designing, developing, and maintaining electrical switchboard systems, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently.


    Job Responsibilities:
    Designed and created detailed customer approval drawings and assembly drawings of low-voltage switchgear systems using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
    Knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication.
    Create 2D and 3D CAD drawings to visualize and document the designs.
    Participate in the selection and specification of switchgear components, including circuit breakers, contactors, transformers, and other control components.
    Collaborate with electrical engineers, technicians, and other professionals to ensure that mechanical systems are properly integrated with electrical systems.
    Create detailed 3D models of switchgear systems to be used in the manufacturing and assembly processes.
    Review and verify the accuracy of technical documentation, including parts lists and assembly instructions.
    Ensure designs are compliant with relevant safety codes and standards.
    Prepare detailed bills of materials and assembly instructions to support the manufacturing and assembly processes.
    Aptitude to succeed in a manufacturing environment.
    Ability to learn medium voltage switchgear and the mechanical engineering of electrical power distribution equipment.
    Staying up to date with industry standards, best practices, and new technologies related to switchgear design and manufacturing.


    Qualifications:
    Must have 4+ years of work experience in the Engineering Department of a Switchgear Manufacturing Company.
    Experience with Autodesk Inventor & AutoCAD or other related 3D & 2D CAD software.
    Knowledge of sheet metal design and fabrication.
    Must be a team player and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
    Ability to read contract drawings, schematics, diagrams, and other technical documents with close attention to detail.
    Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 products and any ERP software such as SAP, Oracle, or Acumatica.

    Ensure that switchgear designs comply with relevant design practices, electrical codes, and safety standards, such as UL891, UL67, UL508A, UL50, National Electrical Code (NEC), New York City Electrical Code (NYCEC), ANSI, IEEE, IEC, utility standards and local regulations.

    US citizen or legally able to work in the US without sponsorship.


    Education:
    Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
