Intake Technician - Tyler, United States - Smith County, TX

The overall responsibility of the Intake Technician is data entry of new case files and ensuring that people who have been sentenced to probation by the Courts are given all required information.

• Responsible for data entry of new case files for probationers (people who have been sentenced to probation by the Courts.)
• Assign new cases on a rotation basis.
• Be familiar with current Court directives and Department policies and procedures.
• For all people who have been sentenced to probation by the Courts: take picture for the case file, verify phone number, refer to the Smith County Judicial Compliance Department, retrieve personal data form, give financial statement form, schedule for orientation and initial interview with the assigned probation officer, etc. If applicable, obtain DNA sample, give class schedule, give Ignition Interlock information, submit request for CSR badge, submit request for Post Sentence Investigation, refer to the Smith County Jail to obtain SID or TRN number, give substance abuse questionnaire and substance abuse evaluation referral, etc.
• Print necessary forms and ensure that files are prepared in a timely manner for Orientation.
• Make all necessary copies for transfer out packets for transfer out cases.
• Complete the intake process for all new transfer in cases.
• Conduct orientation as scheduled each week.
• During orientation retrieve verification of probationer's residence and employment.
• Explain general conditions of probation and Department policies and procedures.
• Distribute the Smith County Probation Handbook to probationers.
• Assist probationers with referrals for employment, education, classes and CSR.
• Ensure that all court ordered financial obligations, as specified in a probationer's conditions of probation, is entered correctly in the current computer software program.
• Complete all required documentation as directed by Department policy and CJAD Standards on a timely basis.
• Distribute files to probation officers once orientation has been completed.
• Run Criminal Histories and scan in the current computer software program.
• Conduct a urinalysis on probationers as needed.
• Complete any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Department Director.
• Must be a United States citizen or have legal immigrant status.
• Must speak, read and write English fluently.
• The Intake Technician must successfully complete and pass urinalysis exam, personnel inventory assessment and criminal history background check.
• Must communicate effectively with all types of people
• Must have strong organizational and prioritization skills
