- Ensure compliance with all DOT, OSHA, environmental, and company safety standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture and promote safe work practices.
- Ensure all repairs meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- Completes all monthly training, audits, and preventative measures for safety
- Develop, schedule, and manage preventive maintenance programs to maximize asset reliability and lifespan.
- Ensure PM completion rates meet or exceed established targets.
- Manage the work order process from creation through completion, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and proper documentation.
- Monitor work order completion rates, backlog, and rework to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.
- PM/Work Order quality audits must be conducted periodically to verify accuracy and completeness.
- Investigate incidents, breakdowns, and quality issues to prevent recurrence.
- Oversee all PM/Work Order activities for equipment, including diagnostics, repairs, inspections, and audits.
- Ensure equipment is maintained to manufacturer standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Coordinate PM/Work Order activities to minimize equipment downtime and support operational demands.
- Track, analyze, and report equipment uptime and downtime, identifying root causes of failures and delays.
- Use maintenance data to reduce repeat breakdowns and unplanned downtime.
- Analyze maintenance and repair costs, including labor, parts, outside services, and warranty recovery.
- Identify cost trends and implement strategies to control expenses without compromising safety or quality.
- Assist in budget preparation and forecasting for maintenance operations.
- Evaluate repair vs. replace decisions based on cost, reliability, and operational impact.
- Analyze the parts for usage to support the inventory needed for timely repairs while controlling carrying costs.
- Monitor usage trends and adjust stocking levels based on fleet needs and failure patterns.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to ensure quality parts and competitive pricing.
- Provide guidance, technical support, and coaching to technicians.
- Assign work based on skill level, certification, and workload.
- Support training on diagnostics, new equipment, and safety procedures.
- Prepare and present reports on:
- Equipment uptime/downtime
- PM completion rates
- Work order completion rates
- Maintenance costs and trends
- Communicate maintenance status, risks, and recommendations to operations and management.
- Collaborate with operations to align maintenance priorities with production and equipment needs.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school, vocational training, or associate degree in diesel technology, automotive technology, or a related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications (ASE, OEM, or equivalent) preferred.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in truck and/or tractor maintenance or repair.
- 3+ years of supervisory or management experience in a service, maintenance, or fleet environment preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing:
- Preventive maintenance (PM) programs
- Work order systems and CMMS
- Technician scheduling and performance
- Inventory and parts control
- Experience working in DOT-regulated or safety-sensitive environments strongly preferred.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a shop environment.
- Ability to climb ladders, steps, or vehicle access points to inspect trucks and tractors.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach to inspect equipment and work areas.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs (with or without assistance).
- Ability to grasp and manipulate tools, parts, and equipment.
- Ability to visually inspect equipment, read gauges, and review documentation.
- Ability to hear and communicate effectively in a noisy shop environment.
- Ability to operate standard shop equipment and basic hand tools as needed for inspection or troubleshooting.
