    About the opportunity
    SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking an Associate Project Manager to join our Pacific Islands region team.

    As a key member of SWCA's Natural Resources team, the selected candidate will be responsible for fostering and maintaining strong client relationships, developing proposals for diverse natural resource management projects across state, federal, and private sectors, and overseeing project management and contributing to project teams for small to medium-sized projects that are primarily located within Hawaii but may also extend to the wider Pacific and U.S.

    mainland. Project management duties include client liaison, team management, budgeting, and invoicing. The Associate Project Manager will also play an important role in mentoring team members.

    This is a regular, full-time, salaried position with the option of working remotely on any of the main islands of Hawaii.

    What you will accomplish
    Client Relations

    • Maintain strong relationships with existing clients while fostering connections with emerging clients.
    • Network within industry organizations to establish and expand the regional client base and revenue in natural resource compliance and ecological restoration.
    • Manage opportunities and make recommendations to the Natural Resources Team Lead and Pacific Islands Office Director.
    • Support regional proposal efforts for environmental planning and ecological restoration opportunities.
    • Organize and lead grant pursuits within Hawaii and the wider Pacific region.
    Project Management and Business Operations

    • Oversee the successful completion of grant pursuits within the Pacific region.
    • Directly manage small to medium-sized projects throughout the project management life cycle, ensuring adherence to project scope, schedule, and budget.
    • Contribute to projects within the Pacific Island office and Southern California subregion as a subject matter expert or technical writer.
    • Ensure professional and technical excellence, and quality through project staffing and QA/QC assignments.
    • Assist with business planning and long-term opportunity identification.
    Leadership

    • Guide team members within natural resource management projects.
    • Manage individual projects.
    • Communications with project team.
    • Meet with managers regularly to discuss project specific tasks.
    • Engage in business development initiatives.
    • Mentor staff on proposal development, health and safety, fieldwork, report writing, and maintenance of quality standards.
    Experience and qualifications for success

    • Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field of study.
    • Five (5) years of relevant experience.
    • Experience researching and tracking grant funded opportunities.
    • Project management experience within the environmental and ecological restoration fields.
    • Experience managing projects on time and within budget.
    • Working knowledge of the environmental management agencies and private sector companies in Hawaii and the Pacific region.
    • Experience working in an interdisciplinary team of subject matter experts.
    • Experience managing and mentoring team members.
    • Excellent technical writing skills
    • Ability to adapt quickly to changes in project needs, client requests, and more.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a variety of colleagues, clients, and agency representatives.

    An employee in this Honolulu, HI-based position can expect a salary of $66,612k - $85,176k/year.

    Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law.

    Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
