    This facility specializes in the design and manufacturing of high-voltage instrument transformers (34KV to 170KV). Because they have doubled in size in the last year, they are adding a new facility in Richland, MS (Jackson, MS suburb, just 20 miles south of Maiden, MS) that will house their design facilities and some manufacturing.

    This is a new role is being added to add mechanical expertise to the existing team of EE's and drafters.. The Mechanical Design Engineer will look for/design improvements to the current mechanical design, run R&D projects to reduce costs and improve performance, and perform simulations. Also, design required to transition from stainless steel to casted aluminum on some parts.

    Requirements:

    • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from accredited university
    • 5+ years related experience in transformer design (will consider voltage regulators)
    • Knowledge of welding principles
    • Experience with AutoCAD AND Creo or Inventor
    • Knowledgeable of relevant international standard e.g. IEEE, IEC, etc.
    • Background in mechanical simulations (static)

    Responsibilities:

    • Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new products as well as improving existing design.
    • Develop testing processes and perform testing and validation of new designs.
    • Generate working prototypes for testing and customer demonstration.
    • Leads R&D projects in accordance with internal procedures and project models to meet project targets.
    • Utilize AutoCAD and Creo to create drawing (including welding)
    • Perform engineering calculations to verify seismic capacity of High voltage products
