    Weld County Department of Human Services (WCDHS) visitation services are designed to actively monitor, assess, and assist in the overall adult/child interactions between parent/relative/caregiver and child(ren) with the intent to improve the quality of the relationship and to expedite and/or maintain the reunification of a family. The Family Time Worker I will intervene in the structure of the parent/child relationship by using several evidence-based interventions to provide parents with the tools to care for their children safely and effectively.

    This position is not exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

    $ $40.20 per hour plus benefits (see benefits tab on the job posting). The position will normally start at $31.73 per hour.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    The following job duties are established to outline the basic duties and responsibilities of the above captioned position. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

    Family Time Coaching, Intervention, and Skills Training (70%):

    • Provides monitored and supervised family time sessions and orientations on site, in the community and in-home.

    • Provides in-the-moment interventions that uphold the child's physical and emotional safety as well as the FTC policies and guidelines.

    • Provides parent education either formally through structured curriculum, or informally through interventions and modeling, for each case.

    • Creates goals with clients using strength-based engagement techniques.

    • Develops rapport with parents and learns about their family culture/values and work to identify dysfunctional family relationships, cross-generational patterns and trauma experiences which are negatively impacting the safety of the child(ren). This could include parenting or family time assessments.

    • Promotes progress towards permanency in cases.

    • Thoroughly documents progress of parent and parent child relationships and participates as an active part of the treatment team by making recommendations on treatment planning, permanency goals, and placement recommendations.

    • Ensures documentation is uploaded in appropriate data bases by dictated timelines.

    Collaboration (25%):

    • Attends family engagement meetings, group supervisions, staff meetings, staff training, regular supervisory meetings, and other agency or community meetings as requested.

    • Maintains and increases knowledge and skills through attendance to meetings, conferences, training seminars and in-service training sessions.

    • Testifies at corresponding hearings in a clear and concise manner.

    • Works closely with the assistant county attorneys to ensure they have the latest updates on the case and that you are prepared for court hearing.

    Other Duties as Assigned (5%):

    • Follow policies and procedures, the Weld County Code of Conduct and adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines and appropriate release of information outlined in both.

    • Other duties may be assigned. Any one position may not include all duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all duties which may be found in positions of this class.

    • Understand and implement rules and regulations for Child Welfare organizations in Colorado outlined in the State of Colorado Department of Human Services Volume 7 guidelines.

    • Upkeep/organization of the Family Time Center.

    • Diligent Search assignments.

    • ICPC case assignments.

    • Providing coverage for other Family Time Workers.
    Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High school diploma or equivalency.

    • Six months experience working in a public or private social services agency (may include internship).

    • Candidate must obtain and maintain 20 hours of job specific training annually.

    • Candidate must be willing to work evenings and weekends to accommodate families.

    • Candidate must possess ability to keyboard at 40 words per minute.

    • Candidate must have a valid Colorado Driver's License and Liability Insurance.

    • Candidate must provide own transportation and be willing to travel throughout Weld County.

    • Candidate must pass Human Services Background Checks prior to first date of employment. Background checks include CBI/FBI fingerprinting and will continue to be monitored throughout employment.

    • Candidate must possess the ability to enter data into several different computer programs.

    • Candidate must possess the ability to learn and apply new computer skills on a regular basis.

    • Candidate must have knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Windows and Word, Excel, and Outlook.

    • Candidate must possess the ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and department policies and procedures.

    • Candidate must possess the ability to write correspondence.

    • Candidate must possess the ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one and small group situations with parents, foster parents, relative care providers, and community partners.

    • Candidate must possess the ability to clearly articulate concepts, directives and goals to employees, professionals and state and community representatives.

    • Candidate must possess the ability to apply math concepts and calculations in the work environment.

    • Candidate must possess the ability to apply common sense to problem solve in a work environment.

    • Candidate must possess the ability to adapt to fast paced, high volume and ever-changing work environment and be able to handle high stress and conflict filled situations while remaining calm and professional.

    • Candidate must be well versed in effective conflict resolution and possess ability to deescalate hostile situations.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Successful completion of a bachelor's degree is preferred.

    Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

    • Experience in facilitating parent education and life skills.

    • Work experience that includes working with persons with addiction and substance use issues and how these issues impact parenting.

    • Experience working directly with children and families who have experienced trauma.

    • Ability to read and write Spanish in a proficient manner.

    • Ability to interpret and translate between English and Spanish using professional language.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Primary office location is in Greeley but includes some travel throughout Weld County.

    • Reliable, predictable, attendance within designated scheduled hours.

    • Appointments with clients may be held at the Family Time Center, in the family home or in a neutral community location.

    • This position is in-person and is not eligible for consistent telework arrangements.

    • This position is 40 hours per week.

    • Days and hours will be determined based on business needs.

    • Work may involve time away from a standard office environment, which may consist of driving to and from appointments at the client's home and in transporting children.

    • Work may occur in client's homes, which could be considered a hostile or unsanitary environment.

    • After hours and on call work situations may occur on occasion to provide support to families that need services outside of normal business hours.

    Medical/Dental/Vision Plans

    Weld County offers two medical plans through Aetna. Employees who enroll in one of the health plans must enroll in dental and vision. There are two vision plans and three dental plans to choose from. Dependents may also be enrolled. Questions regarding eligibility and premiums should be directed to Human Resources.

    Life Insurance

    Weld County offers employees a Basic Term Life Insurance policy in the amount of 3 times their annual salary. Eligible employees must regularly work at least 20 hours per week. The plan is provided at no cost to the employee. Employees also have the option to enroll in supplemental term policies for themselves and their dependents. Rates for those supplemental plans are based on age.

    Long Term Disability Insurance

    Weld County pays the premium for Long Term Disability Insurance for any regular employee that works at least 20 hours per week. The policy provides a monthly benefit of 60% of monthly base salary (maximum benefit of $8,000/month) after a 6 month waiting period.

    Short Term Disability Insurance

    Weld County offers a Short Term Disability plan through Cigna to any regular employee that works at least 20 hours per week. The premium is paid 100% by Weld County and the plan pays a monthly benefit of 60% of monthly base salary after the employee has been off work for 30 days and exhausted all of their own sick and vacation time.

    Paid Leave

    Weld County offers paid vacation, sick leave and holidays. Specific information regarding these benefits can be obtained from Human Resources.

    Retirement

    All full time regular employees at Weld County (except Health Department employees) participate in a mandatory defined benefit retirement plan. The employees contribute 9% of their base salary on a before tax basis to the fund. Weld County matches that amount starting with the employee's first paycheck. Weld County employees also pay Social Security/Medicare (7.65%). In addition to the mandatory plan, employees have two optional deferred compensation plans to choose from. The 401K and the 457 plans are administered by Principal Financial.

    Employees at the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment do not participate in the Weld County Retirement plan. Instead they contribute 9.0% to the Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA) and only contribute to Medicare (1.45%). Health Department employees also have the option to contribute to a PERA 401K plan.

    Section 125 and Flexible Spending Accounts

    The Section 125 program allows employees to pay the premiums for the county's medical, dental and vision plans with pre-tax dollars. Flexible Spending Accounts are also available for unreimbursed medical expenses and day care expenses.

    Mental Health Counseling & Well-being Resources

    As a Weld County Employee, you and your immediate family members, now have access to join IOME for FREE. IOME is proud to be partnered with Weld County to offer you free counseling and coaching support, a self care central, and discounted self care.

    Voluntary Benefits

    Employees at Weld County have the following Voluntary Benefit plans available to them through AFLAC. Aflac offers an Accident plan, Critical Illness plan and a Hospital Indemnity plan.

    Recreation Center Discounts

    As part of the Weld County Wellness Program, employees are given discounts at the Greeley Recreation Center, the Family Fun Plex, Johnstown Family YMCA and the Ft. Lupton Recreation Center. Active and Fit Memberships also available.

    Tuition Assistance

    Regular employees who work at least 20 hours per week and have been employed with Weld for 6 months may be eligible to receive tuition assistance for qualified college courses.

    Benefits effective date is the first of the month after you have worked one full pay period.
