- Valid CA State Registered Nurse License
- 2+ years' experience in an emergency medical facility
- CPR certification required
- Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification required
- PALS certification required
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred, but not required
- TNCC certification preferred, but not required
- Triage- Prioritize care based on the critical nature and severity of a patient's condition.
- Assess Patients – Identify the medical problem, document medical history, check for any allergies and current medications.
- Taking Vital Signs – Obtain and record blood pressure, measuring pulse rate, respiration, and temperature over the course of a patient's stay and logging vital statistics.
- Administer Medications – Administering oral and injectable medication, dressing and cleaning wounds, changing dressings and assessing patient reactions to administered medication.
- Monitor Patients – Oversees follow-through on doctor's orders, from making sure medications are given to checking on completion and results of diagnostic tests which are ordered. Regularly check and record the patient's vital statistics, and report any changes in patient condition.
- Charting – Charting all patient medical history, contact information, current condition and medications, and treatment as well as update their electronic medical record throughout their stay in the E.R.
- Discharge – Handles the discharge paperwork, explaining it to the patient and their family/caregiver, and answering any questions they may have. Confirm transportation from the ER with the patient, their destination, and follow-up recommendations for care and doctor's visits.

Job Summary
The Emergency Room Nurse performs many different tasks. This includes coordinating incoming patients, assessing and examining patients, assists with stabilizing patient conditions and completing all patient documentation. The ER Nurse must understand triage, which is a method of recognizing and treating life-threatening conditions, with the ability to deploy rapid assessment and treatment of patients in critical situations during the initial phase of acute illness and trauma.
