    MDOT's Environmental Division has the responsibility of ensuring that all projects falling under MDOT's oversight follow guidelines set forth in federal and state regulations such as National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969 and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA of 1966), as well as the Mississippi Antiquities Law.

    The purpose of the Cultural Resources Specialist I will be to work with MDOT Environmental Division's cultural resources staff and assist in archaeological survey, excavation, and documentation as required under state and federal guidelines.

    What you'll need to be SuccessfulIn order to be successful, the applicant should possess a background in anthropology with a specialization in archaeology (prior archaeological field school and Cultural Resource Management experience preferred) and work well in a team environment.

    Preferred QualificationsTypically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 0-2 years of experience.
