    Description

    The primary duties of the position is to function as a hospitalist.

    Duties include the following:

  • Attending approximately 20 work weeks per year on the Gastroenterology consult service, navigating inpatient workflows
  • Developing and executing quality improvement initiatives specific to the care of inpatients requiring gastroenterology care
  • During some (see below) non-inpatient weeks, providing ambulatory patient care in the Gastroenterology clinics and endoscopy units
  • Sharing weekend call responsibilities with other GI faculty members; and teaching medical students, residents, and GI fellows during the course of the year. As a member of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology you will report to the Head of the Division. Position Conditions/Qualifications:
  • Individual must be board certified in Gastroenterology and hold a valid Oregon medical license.The duties of this position include:

    Clinical 100%

  • GI attending responsibilities
  • Approximately 20 work weeks (e.g., Monday through Friday) per year supervising the inpatient consult service
  • Weekend inpatient consult service, approximately 6 weeks per year
  • Ambulatory endoscopy and urgent GI clinic
  • Approximately 24 weeks per year; during ambulatory weeks responsible for 2 days of endoscopy per week and 1 day of ambulatory clinic per week. The ambulatory clinic will mostly focus on new and urgent outpatient referrals and urgent post-discharge follow-up care.
  • 2 days of administrative time each week during ambulatory weeks
  • During attending rotations, you will be expected to supervise Gl fellows, complete all inpatient Gl consultations, and perform endoscopic procedures on inpatients and complex outpatients at the hospital endoscopy unit or ICU. During the attending rotation, you will not have other outpatient obligations and will receive full credit for the outpatient clinics.
  • Appropriate Nursing support will be provided for all outpatient activities.
  • 9 weeks of administrative and personal leave per year
