    Description

    Leads a multi-modality team of Technologists in the performance of patient scans to obtain images at a satisfactory level with minimal supervision. Performs MRI procedures according to protocol and age specific needs, including patient preparation. Maintains and monitors patient environment, adheres to safety procedures and contributes to the security and maintenance of the unit.

    Essential Functions

    1. Interfaces with patient to ascertain medical history and provides instructions and explanation of the procedure and/or exam to obtain the best possible image.

    2. Reviews patient charts for missed clinical information and/or consent. Screens patients for surgical and other implants, contrast allergies, etc.

    3. Obtains prior films/exams as needed and performs high quality scans to submit to the Radiologist for interpretation.

    4. Performs exams while attending to patient's care before, during and following exam and notifies the appropriate party if patient's condition changes at any time.

    5. Coordinates scan protocols with Radiologist. Serves as an expert resource for clinical, technical and process-related questions for other Technologists.

    6. Reviews and optimizes scheduling to accommodate work-ins and ensures the proper protocol.

    7. Assists with new employee training.

    8. Ensures A.L.A.R.A (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) is followed with daily calibration and scheduled maintenance of imaging equipment, optimizes all radiation dependent exams, and maintains accurate dose records.

    9. Maintains and regularly inspects equipment and immediately reports any quality concerns as well as equipment failures or deficiencies. Coordinates annual Physics testing and/or equipment inspections.

    10. Oversees Compliance, Quality & Safety Programs for the Center.

    11. Other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities

    This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for all Technologists at the Center.

    Work Environment

    This job operates in an environmentally controlled outpatient clinical environment. Potential exposure to radiation, which is minimized by the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Possible exposure to bodily fluids, communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation and other conditions common to a medical office environment. Often requires work in cool, dimly lighted rooms.

    Physical Demands
    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by and employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

    Job Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

     Two plus years' experience in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) – preferred

     Previous Team Lead experience in a healthcare environment – preferred

     Ability to educate patients on procedures being performed

     Detail oriented, self-motivated, a problem solver and a team player

     Ability to navigate multiple computer screens and browsers quickly and accurately

     Ability to excel in a very fast-pace team environment

     Ability to continuously "exceed" company and customer expectation

     Strong communication skills & professional demeanor

    Education/Certifications:

     Graduate of an accredited Registered Technologist program

     Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification with Registry in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) or current American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)

     Current license from state medical board (if applicable)

     Current CPR certification
