PAY RATE: $12.00 per hour

The Sports Official plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of every child in the program. They lead by example, display enthusiasm on the court or field, and act as a positive influence for all participants and fellow staff members based on YMCA policies. Sports range from Soccer and Basketball to Volleyball and Track.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Embody the YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
2. Officiate and teach core skills during games.
3. Deliver excellent customer service, use teachable moments, and memorize the 'YMCA Sports Pledge'.
4. Ensure a quality experience for all involved.
5. Handle conflicts calmly.
6. Set up and maintain sports equipment, and assist in keeping the environment clean and safe.
7. Know and enforce YMCA league rules, ensuring a fair game.
8. Supervise participants and uphold safety standards.
9. Follow safety protocols, attend training, and report incidents accurately.
10. Comply with YMCA policies, engage in financial development efforts, and maintain required certifications.
11. Follow the provided schedule.
12. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. High school enrollment or equivalent.
2. No officiating experience needed, but familiarity with sports and rules is crucial.

CERTIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Background check required
2. CPR/AED/First Aid*
3. Mandatory Reporter*

*Training will be provided by YMCA staff and must be completed within 30 days of hire, if not certified.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must lift up to 50 pounds, run, stand, walk, use hands, talk, hear, stoop, and kneel. Specific vision requirements apply.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Varied environments, occasional exposure to moving parts and loud noise. Includes gymnasiums and outdoor fields.
